One tiny change can flip your whole day, and sometimes it’s not the world that needs fixing, it’s the lens you’re looking through. We unpack how anger, insecurity, and stress act like tinted lenses that skew the story in our head. When we “see red,” we interpret people and problems through threat, not truth. And that spills into our communication with a boss, a partner, our kids, and especially ourselves.
Clarity can feel weird at first. New perspective can bring an adjustment period, but it also brings depth, curiosity, and the kind of wonder many adults forget. If you’ve been stuck in a negative mindset, caught in conflict, or tired of your own inner narration, this story offers a fresh way to reset.
The practical takeaway is simple and powerful: notice the lens, name it, and choose again. That’s emotional regulation and cognitive reframing without the jargon.
Subscribe for more grounded mindset shifts, share this with a friend who’s been wearing their angry goggles, and leave a review if it helps. Which lens are you choosing today?
You know that flash of irritation when someone “costs you” a few minutes and your whole body tightens like you’re being robbed? I had that moment at a backed-up intersection after a long drive, and I even caught myself thinking the most loaded phrase of all: time is money. What happened next surprised me and, honestly, changed the way I look at waiting.
A stranger’s bright red lipstick at a bus stop yanked me out of anger and straight into a childhood memory at my grandmother’s vanity. It led to a tiny jeweled box, a plain slip of paper, and a line I’ve carried for decades: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That memory didn’t just calm me down, it showed me how quickly we can switch from stress to presence when we stop gripping the steering wheel and start paying attention to what’s actually here.
From there, I walk through a simple time management experiment: tracking a full week to see how I really spend my time, not how I hope I do. The big finding is what I call “I’m stuck here” time, the red lights, waiting rooms, long conversations, obligations, and awkward in-between moments. We break down three everyday currencies (money, time, energy), why time is the only one you can’t earn back, and practical mindfulness tools to spend those stuck minutes wisely: deep breaths, gratitude, a small smile, a quick compliment, or replaying the last time you laughed so hard you couldn’t breathe.
If you’ve been craving more intentional living without adding another impossible routine, here is a mid-week "Quickie" for ya. Listen through to the end and try one “stuck time” reset this week. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s always rushing, and leave a review with your favorite way to come back to the present.
The fastest way to lose a relationship argument is to turn it into a trial about the past. One messy kitchen moment and an even messier pickleball debut teach us a surprisingly clean way out.
If you’ve ever felt trapped in the same argument pattern, this one gives you a practical reset and a better script for asking for what you need.

I am a creature of habit. To change The Story in My Head about money, I had to change my habits. I had to identify patterns and make micro changes. I'm practicing. And intentional practice is what changes our story!!!

I met with the money expert to re-visit a few things. We agreed there's a lot of mis-information about money in The Story in My Head. I was reminded I MAKE THE RULES cause it's MY story now!

Money is most definitely an emotional thing! We can feel guilt and shame after spending money, embarrassed to talk about our earnings and spending, as well as feel confused about why and how we spend. We can not speak honestly about money without speaking about our emotions AND our emotional spending. Whether we are sad, fearful, hormonally imbalanced or experiencing any kind of crisis; our emotions affect our money story. Let's begin to budget for emotional spending.
