Aditya Mahapatra and Sambhav Chadha have combined their lifelong obsession with fitness with their love for influencer marketing to build an influencer marketing agency that works exclusively with health and wellness brands.
"We met playing cricket when we were only 13 years old," Sambhav says. "We wanted to play higher levels, so we focused on health and wellness. And from that experience, we grew to be passionate about recovery and nutrition and diet, which puts us in a great place to work with similar brands."
The two friends co-founded Augmentum Influencer Solutions last year. They credit their young age with giving them a competitive advantage among marketing agencies.
"We're growing up right now with the next generation of buyers - the next generation where a lot of products are being catered to at the moment," Aditya says. "That and also starting this business at such a young age shows our passion. And I think that comes across to brands whenever we're talking to them."
They say a significant aspect of their youthful advance is understanding social media's evolution.
"What we're seeing nowadays is a shift away from more traditional forms of social media," Sambhav says. "The younger generation is growing up with TikTok and Instagram. There's been a big shift away from traditional platforms like Facebook."
The pair's focus on health and wellness comes at an opportune time as the global focus has centered on these topics.
"We're seeing now a massive shift towards living healthier lives, whether it's turning towards vegetarianism or veganism," Sambhav says. "(But) there are no influencer marketing agencies that dedicate their work only to health and wellness brands. The issue this creates for brands is they want someone who understands their vision, and they want someone passionate about what they're trying to achieve. And who better than two health-obsessed individuals to do this for them?"
In Part 1, Aditya and Sambhav talk about:
* Gratitude to friends and family for their support. * The beginning of their friendship playing cricket. * How they're using their youth as an advantage. * Their take on social media shifts. * Why their health and wellness niche is well-timed.

Want some unusual advice? Dr. Sarah Rahal, MD, Founder and CEO of ARMRA, offers this: "Don't believe everything you think about yourself."
"I'd considered myself up to this point to be quite a risk-averse person," says Dr. Rahal, whose brand leverages the ancient superfood colostrum. "I've never done anything other than medicine. ... (but) at the end of the day ... I'm just a problem solver."
Ultimately, Dr. Rahal says, she believes so much in her colostrum brand because she's put so much of herself into it.
"I have so much integrity around the thought I put into the product because I was developing a product for myself," she says. "I use the same product."
The product itself is in powder form, and the serving size is only half a teaspoon.
"There is no such thing as taking too much, so at least one serving a day is needed because we live in the modern era," she says. "We're under constant assault from these environmental threats, so the barrier is almost always being damaged."
The product is tasteless and can be added to any liquid that's not hot. (A blood orange flavor is also available.)
An additional advantage of colostrum is that it can replace other dietary supplements. It replaces the need for other immune supplements and probiotics. It can also replace collagen, Dr. Rahal says.
In Part 2, Dr. Rahal talks about:
* Advice for other doctors/entrepreneurs wanting to start a brand. * Why she has such a strong belief in her product. * The story behind the brand name ARMRA. * A closer look at the product and its recommended use. * How colostrum works. * What products can colostrum replace among dietary supplements. * Where to buy the product.

Can a food produced for breastfeeding be utilized to protect people of all ages? That's the mission of ARMRA, a business that leverages the ancient superfood colostrum.
Dr. Sarah Rahal, MD, Founder and CEO of ARMRA, is a conventionally trained, double board-certified pediatric neurologist with a sub-specialty in pain and chronic headaches in children. She ran a busy practice on New York's Upper East Side at an academic institution. With a background in functional medicine and environmental health, she brought a holistic framework to her practice.
Frustrated by traditional medical practice approaches to children with chronic disease diagnoses, Dr. Rahal set out on her own to find some answers. Her research led her to colostrum, a thick, rich, yellow fluid produced during the first moments of breastfeeding.
Traditionally known as an "immunization shot" for babies, colostrum could also improve immune barriers in all ages, Dr. Rahal says. Eventually, her team created a technology that uses cows as a source for colostrum that could then be used as a superfood.
"It does look like medicine, and it is confusing to understand exactly how it works," Dr. Rahal says. "I think we're seeing some cultural trends move in this direction. But I think up until now, it's been a very confusing product for people to wrap their heads around. It does this and this and this and this and this. It just does so many things. It's hard to figure out what to use it for."
That's one mission of ARMRA - providing education and thought leadership to change the paradigm in the talk about immune health.
"We're in a society of inflammation," Dr. Rahal says. "What we need to do is restore balance to the immune system. And this that's exactly how this product works and how colostrum was designed to work."
In Part 1, Dr. Rahal talks about:
* Gratitude for her best friend and her support over her vision. * Her journey from a regular medical practice to a specialized one-on-one approach with patients. * The importance of colostrum. * Why the product has been underutilized to date. * The need to protect yourself from the toxins of the modern world.

When you have a story to tell, you have the show things behind the scenes, says Anthony Ciavirella, co-founder of Manmade, a men's essentials brand.
To that end, much of the development process at Manmade was documented via social media.
"All these little things that we have to learn throughout the process of why modal felt so good and why we used it - we documented, and we showed," he says. "It's not easy to start a brand not always W's. And sometimes the L's that you take will bring you to a W later on, and it's a and you want to be able to showcase the wins and showcase the losses as well because they're necessary evil to go through them."
One of the most significant tools Manmade discovered was TikTok.
"TikTok is magic," Anthony says. "It's undervalued attention. And then on the ad side, we saw some huge success because it's super underpriced, and helped us grow."
Anthony has words of wisdom for other would-be entrepreneurs considering a jump into the e-commerce world.
"Go for it. You got one life," he says. "There are so many things that can stop someone from doing it. And if that's the case right, you can do your 9 to 5 job, but then at night don't watch TV, take those two or three hours and do your research, create your business plan. ... You need to manifest your future."
In Part 2, Anthony talks about:
* The importance of being transparent during the development process. * Why they chose the fabric they did vs. more popular options such as polyester or cotton. * The value of TikTok. * Advice for other entrepreneurs. * The absolute necessity of planning. * The importance of having the support of significant others. * The downsides to being your own boss. * A rundown of the products.

The folks at Manmade aren't fashionistas - they just know the essential needs of their male customers, says Anthony Ciavirella, co-founder of Manmade.
Right now, that comes in the form of boxer briefs and low-cut socks - simple but relatable, Anthony says.
"We're not huge designer brands. ... It's simplicity. We're always going to go with simple colors," Anthony says. "We're about providing men with the essentials they need without the BS. ... It's why you got four guys to quit their finance careers to go deep into this project and build this brand."
Manmade teams up four long-time friends living out their careers in the corporate finance world. Though they each enjoyed success in their jobs, there was a mutual entrepreneurial spirit among them.
The spark for Manmade came from an uncomfortable summer day in a cabin, where the four friends were brainstorming ideas for a new business. The conversation turned to their uncomfortable underwear, and a brand was soon born.
"We did a bunch of research. We ordered every underwear on the market you could think of. We tried on underwear almost daily," he says. Eventually, the group came across Modal fabric, a super absorbent but breathable fabric derived from the beech tree.
"I remember clearly putting on this modal boxer brief and being like, wow, this fabric is amazing. But it was expensive," he says. The search was on for an affordable solution.
Fast-forward 10 months, 34 fabric samples, and 34 iterations, Manmade found a manufacturer in Sri Lanka that fit the bill.
Though Manmade's partners were confident in their product, they realized they were still four finance guys with little or no business building a brand, Anthony says. To that end, they decided to focus on being able to educate and entertain.
"Those are the two facets that we wanted to make sure that we target, and that's exactly why people would follow us or listen to our story or listen to our brand or want to know more about our brand," he says.
In Part 1, Anthony talks about:
* Gratitude to his business partners for their daily support. * The simplicity of Manmade's mission. * The origin of the brand. * The quest to find a product and an affordable but comfortable set of underwear. * The challenge of building a brand from scratch.

The ideal for selling tins of fish-based meals came during a visit to Portugal and its sardine canneries, says Henry Lovejoy, Owner and Co-founder of Freshé Meals.
"Portugal is not that big, but we took 11 days and drove 2,000 miles, so we zigzagged the country about the size of Indiana and went to a dozen sardine canneries looking for the perfect sardine and the perfect cannery to work with," Henry says. "At the end of one meeting, they said, you have a little extra time. We have a new concept. We would love your feedback. And they brought out tins with sardines in them. But there was also olive oil and beans and spices and all in this easy, open serving tin. And we'd been looking for an opportunity."
The biggest challenge, Henry says, was overcoming people's perception of canned food.
"I grew up with lousy canned food in the supermarket," he says. "When you travel to Europe, there are some premium quality canned fish. It's a completely different culture."
A celebrity chef was hired, and work began on global recipes. Meals were tweaked over many months. The mission is to use 100 percent certified sustainable seafood. Work has already started next on shrimp recipes.
Henry offers this advice for other entrepreneurs pursuing opportunities.
"You have to follow your heart - if you don't have passion, you don't have energy," he says. "We've been doing this for 23 years now, and our commitment to sustainability is what keeps me coming into the office every day. "
In Part 2, Henry talks about:
* The inspiration behind Freshé Meals. * The misperceptions of canned food. * The sourcing of ingredients and how Freshé sticks to sustainable seafood. * Advice for other entrepreneurs. * A closer look at Freshé's current products. * Where to find Freshé's meals.

Providing a high-quality and fresh seafood meal in a tin for consumption at home - that's the goal of Freshé Meals, says owner and co-founder Henry Lovejoy.
"The majority of Americans eat their seafood when they're out," Henry says. "There is a fear factor in the U.S. with cooking fish and how to prepare it. And that's the solution that we're trying to bring with Freshé."
Henry says many vegetarians are adding fish to their diets these days. Freshé offers meals with a more international taste.
"We've got recipes from Morocco and Spain and France and Thailand and Italy, so you can go on an adventure as you eat the meals," he says. "And they're super portable. They're an easy-open dinner."
Freshé Meals are designed to be eaten on the go or at your home office, Henry says.
"Half of the meals eaten in the United States now or eaten on the road and alone, and people are eating five-plus meals a day, smaller meals," he says. "This fits that format for what people are looking for."
Henry says his love of seafood and the ocean goes back to his childhood.
"When I was a young boy, I couldn't wait for Sunday dinner to be over to go watch the Jacques Cousteau special every Sunday night," he says. "I was inspired by his shows and discovering the oceans are 72 percent of our planet, but we don't know what's going on out there or under the surface."
After college, Henry got involved in the seafood industry, exporting lobster to Europe and Asia. Visiting markets worldwide exposed Henry and his business partner/wife to sustainability issues.
In Part 1, Henry talks about:
* Gratitude toward the marine conversation community for helping to bring sustainable seafood to consumers. * The trend of adding seafood to the diet. * The convenience of the brand's meals include easy to eat while traveling. * His career journey and how he got involved with seafood sustainability. * The complexities of the global seafood industry.

"Everybody's kombucha is a little bit different," says Jeff Weaber, Founder and CEO of Aqua ViTea, but essentially the product is made from just four ingredients - water, a yeast/bacteria culture, tea, and sugar.
Though it might sound similar to manufacturing a beer or wine, it's the microorganisms in kombucha that make everyone's version taste different, Jeff says.
"We've been honing our process for quite a while, and we're going to have a much softer flavor because of the process we've developed," he says.
Part of the challenge at Aqua ViTea is removing the alcohol. Jeff says that the final product is under the non-alcoholic limit of 0.5 percent. That being said, the liquid also has plenty of health benefits.
"The gut microbiome is just one aspect of kombucha, but it's teeming with probiotics," Jeff says. "There are different organic amino acids that all help contribute one puzzle piece or more to how your body's functioning. So all these stresses that your body is constantly being bombarded with need support, and kombucha just so happens to have so many different microorganisms that it's supporting you on many different levels."
Jeff has words of wisdom for other entrepreneurs, starting with this: "You've got to stick to your guns and focus on the passion that lit the fire, to begin with," he says.
"If you get to a place where you start chasing innovation in other directions to try to stay current with the market, you're now following trends instead of setting them," he says. "As soon as you change direction and start following someone else's passion, you will get washed up."
It's the passion that gets you through the hard times, he says.
"One of the hardest things you're constantly facing is ... you want to bring people to your vision," he says. "It is very, very challenging. So you got to take a step back and realize and have some patience. We like to say that bad habits are hard to break, but good habits are easy to make for us. And that's what we are trying to do here."
In Part 2, Jeff talks about:
* How kombucha is made. * The challenge of removing the alcohol. * The health benefits of kombucha. * Advice for fellow entrepreneurs. * The current reach of Aqua ViTea and its future expansion plans. * A rundown of Aqua ViTea's flavors. * The importance of having an open mind about kombucha.

From brewing beer to kombucha tea - that's the unlikely journey for Jeff Weaber, Founder and CEO of Aqua ViTea.
Jeff says he and his wife - a practitioner of naturopathy - discovered the benefits of kombucha just as the tea was beginning to take off.
"At the time, it was going to be maybe a sort of cottage industry on-farm production product," he says. "I mean, it was going to be a brand, but I didn't imagine that it was going to go much outside our county, let alone sweep across the country."
Jeff says he began selling the product - and educating consumers about kombucha - at farmers' markets in Oregon. It turns out that meeting the growing demand was quite a challenge.
"We're scaling up a product that has never been scaled up before," he says. "People are making it one-gallon jars with their house. We were making 20-gallon batches, and that alone was daunting enough. Figuring that out, finding the space, figuring out how to control the environment, doing all these things that hadn't been done before."
A side issue that Jeff and his team hadn't anticipated was the packing. The beverage was traditionally sold in packaged glass jars or cans. It wasn't environmentally responsible, so Jeff knew he had to find a better solution.
"We decided to launch our products in stores through a self-standing aerator - a fountain - as we called it, where people could bring their growlers back week after week and fill up their growlers and take it home," he says. "When it's empty, they take it back and fill it up again. And that's what caused the pull for us. That's what caused the stores to start calling."
Early in the brand's history, Aqua ViTea didn't get much help from competitors building the category.
"Unfortunately, early on, a few companies that got started, none of them were talking to each other," Jeff says. "They all had a kind of competitive edge cultivated in the industry early on."
Jeff says that attitude seems to have evolved now, with more companies embracing the mission of pushing kombucha to help replace soft drinks on the store shelves.
In Part 1, Jeff talks about:
* Gratitude toward his first boss for believing in him. * How he and his wife came to drink kombucha. * How crowds at farmers' markets helped launch the business. * The challenging logistics of making the product. * The side issue of responsible packaging. * The mission to replace soft drinks.

The beauty of the entrepreneurial journey is its light and dark moments, says Lola Priego, founder and CEO of Base, a brand that helps develop nutritional and lifestyle plans for customers.
Calendar planning and "managing your burn" are two strategies Lola recommends.
"You have to manage your burn efficiently, revenue, and losses," she says. Right. And then, whether you're VC-backed or profitable, the financials are essential. And that's something that you as a CEO or founder cannot fully outsource."
She says that the fear of fundraising is another common challenge, but you must face it.
"There's no way to do fundraising without fear," Lola says. "People who say that they love fundraising, I understand that (but) I think they are lying if they are not scared."
For those getting started with Base, the website offers an interactive quiz to help focus on a health goal. The quiz results will help determine what tests and lab work are recommended. Base would then provide recommendations based on the results of those tests.
"It is not a one-size-fits-all," Lola says. "Even though our recommendations come from clinical trials supervised by nutritionists and doctors, sometimes certain bodies just do not respond to certain changes the same way."
Base offers other packages geared toward those who feel that "everything is off," Lola says.
"It gives them hope that there's something that they could do to improve those levels and therefore improve those symptoms," she says.
In Part 2, Lola talks about:
* Advice for other entrepreneurs considering a startup. * Understanding and conquering the fear of fundraising. * The story of a colleague at Base who struggled with work anxiety. * How the Base system works. * Why testing isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.
