Storyful has been offering paid internships since 2013, giving young journalists the opportunity to work with our teams across News, Viral, Trends and Brands. As interns at Storyful, young journalists gain invaluable skills and experience, working as active team members, honing their skills, applying in-house technology and publishing pieces for clients.
Every Storyful intern gets to complete in-depth training and develop an understanding of how each department operates. Working with publishers, they cover a range of topics to fit our partners’ workflow and editorial agendas. Working with brands and agencies, they learn how to connect a brand’s storytelling to authentic social moments. Working with social intelligence, they learn how to contextualize trending conversations using a combination of traditional media analysis and social monitoring.
But with growing pressure in an ever-changing industry, what does it now take to be young journalist?
In this week’s episode of the Storyful podcast, host Della Kilroy is joined by Storyful interns Richard Hamilton, Lynne Swan, Kay Cairns, Shane Raymond, Eoin Corbett, Aoife Gallagher, Colm O’Donnell and Robert Dunne. Topics of discussion include the skills that are expected of young journalists today, what they’ve learned through their internships, and what advice they would give to other young journalists.
