My dad is a self-described "Conspiracy Nut." He has never really shared
which conspiracies he truly believed in, other than he was pretty certain
that there are "powers that be" that are out to control the world.
I am unsure of the point of a conspiracy theory. Yes, they are meant to
illustrate that we aren't privy to the real story and there are strings
being pulled that we can't possibly see. There are people that are so
power-hungry that they need to control everything.
... but are we ever really in control of our lives?
In the United States, we love to think we are the architects of our own
destinies. That isn't true though, is it? Our choices are always dependent
on other people choices, and there are almost certainly choices others make
that affect us without our desire.
