The Strange Road

On this episode of The Strange Road the fellas sit down with paranormal researcher, ITC expert and creator, Matthew "Evel Ogilville" Jackson. That's Evel like Knievel y'all! How we came in contact with Matthew is a very strange sync up involving my Big Bro, John. John introduced himself to Matthew at an event at The Historic Crump Theatre in Columbus, IN and told him about his brother's show, The Strange Road and insisted we link up. Matthew reached out to us and within seconds of chatting we knew we had to get him on. Thanks John! This was one of our favorite episodes we've ever done. The crew learned so much about spirit boxes and Instrumental Trans Communication (ITC) technology. Matthew premieres one of his latest videos during the episode which show the spirit boxes in action! It's extremely strange...

Spirit Boxes, ITC & Paranormal Research | Matthew Jackson of PARAHOLICS

BIO: Matthew Jackson began actively researching the paranormal in 2009. After a string of unexplainable events — the strangest being in 2003 when a discarnate voice whispered in his ear and then chucked a glass of water at his head at the exact location of an unsolved murder from 1970 — he began delving into connections between tragic history and supernatural occurrences. He instantly became drawn to Instrumental Trans Communication (ITC) and has developed a passion for Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and using Spirit/Ghost Boxes for real-time communication in his sessions. He has investigated many locations, including iconic ones such as the Lizzie Borden House, and has braved the halls of Waverly Hills Sanatorium on numerous occasions. Matthew is also the proud owner of some of the most unique spirit boxes in the field. He recently began construction on a new site, www.obscuravox.com. The mission of Obscura Vox ITC is to provide a collaborative space pertaining to the history and modern research of Instrumental Trans Communication (ITC). For more on Matthew’s haunting endeavors, follow his blog:

On this episode of The Strange Road the fellas sit down with explorer, researcher and creator from Mysterious Mountains YouTube Channel, Josh Smart! Josh has been exploring and researching the forgotten ceremonial stone landscapes of Vermont for the last 3 years and sharing what he has learned and found. Josh shares some incredible photos from his trips to the remote areas with us, a poses the question. Were the ancient Native Americans building miles and miles of stone walls and structures up and down New England and Pennsylvania? Were ancient Americans designing and building advanced temple complexes, cairns and stone chambers that align to the movement of the heavenly bodies? A Survey from the 1840s estimated there to be 240,000 miles of stone walls! The builders incorporate the walls into the landscape and seem to flow with it. Would colonial settlers be hiking up into the remote areas away from good farm land to build these long strange structures for there sheep pens? Josh suggests that maybe they were ancient fire breaks used to cultivate and work with the land instead of conquering and owning the land. This subject is heavily debated and controversial. Josh asks anyone that thinks it's not worth there time looking into this should go hike up to these sites and check them out. Check out Josh's YouTube channel and follow him on Insta! On this episode of The Strange Road, Mikey and Bub sat down with Salt Fork State Park Naturalist and Educator, John Hickenbottom! John works for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and has gained notoriety for being Ohio's Bigfoot Naturalist. He puts on many events and hikes educating people on the environment, animals, plants and yes bigfoot. Specifically, Ohio reptiles and amphibians are his primary passions. John makes it very clear. He is not a Bigfoot researcher, but is a Bigfoot educator. John has been a contributor at the Salt Fork Bigfoot Conference for many years. At first John didn't take the subject of Bigfoot seriously. Then the years of eyewitness stories began to build up from visitors to the park and John became open to the idea that maybe there was some hidden creatures in the South Eastern forests of Ohio. We chopped it up about bears and larger predators in Ohio, which leads John to believe that the forests of Ohio can support a large bi-pedal primates. He just doesn't know what the phenomenon is, but has an open minded scientific approach to his work. John is still searching for answers when it comes to the elusive hide and go seek champ, The Ohio Grassman.

On this episode of The Strange Road, Mikey and Bub sat down with historian and researcher, Travis Roy of Giants of Ancient America on Instagram. We found out about Travis during the research phase of our 3.5 hour long episode, Giant Skeletons & The Smithsonian. The Strange Crew has been blown away by the never ending newspaper clippings Travis has found. These stories about giant skeletons being found with incredible art, jewelry and artifacts all across the United States and beyond is astounding! Travis also shared some of his personal paranormal encounters being in the woods his entire life. From orbs to Bigfoot this episode took an amazing left turn!

Giants of Ancient America | Travis Roy

BIO: Giants roamed America in the ancient past, building fortifications and erecting massive burial & temple worship mounds. In truth, this race of titans roamed the earth, leaving their esteemed deceased within tumuli of earth and stone. Their handiworks can still be seen across the globe. Current history texts attribute a more-modern native approach to be the builders of such works (stone and dirt pyramids, Easter island heads, megalithic monuments etc.), but it’s my belief that another race is responsible.

On this episode of The Strange Road, Mikey and Bub sat down with investigative researcher and co-founder, head writer & editor at The Singular Fortean Society, Tobias Wayland! Tobias shared some incredible paranormal stories from his childhood. He breaks down the levels of dimensions and the possibility that spirits, ETs and even cryptids may be operating in multiple planes of reality. We dive into the work and archetypes of Charles Fort and John Keel. He has a feel for the strange you could say. Tobias has an unbelievable amount of knowledge about The Lake Michigan Mothman and shares what he found in his research. This episode is fire and we can't wait for you all to experience it!

Mothman & High Strangeness | Tobias Wayland

Tobias spent several years of his career as a MUFON field investigator. Tobias is a frequent guest on various podcasts and radio shows, has contributed to several books and periodicals on the paranormal, and is often invited to speak at paranormal conferences and events. Tobias was featured in the series premiere of Expedition X, and the Small Town Monsters documentaries Terror in the Skies and On the Trail of the Lake Michigan Mothman for his work investigating Mothman sightings around Lake Michigan. He and his wife Emily have been involved with the Lake Michigan Mothman investigation since its advent in the spring of 2017, and published a book chronicling the experience, The Lake Michigan Mothman: High Strangeness in the Midwest. His second book about unusual phenomena, Strange Tales of the Impossible, continues their work in investigating a variety of seemingly impossible events.
