Romans 5 lays out seven present realities that belong to every believer because of justification through faith in Jesus Christ. These are not distant promises waiting to be claimed. They are yours right now. Because of Christ, you have peace with God, permanent access to grace, hope in His glory, hope through suffering, God's love poured into your heart, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and full reconciliation with God. One man, Adam, brought sin and death into the world. One man, Jesus Christ, brought righteousness and life. You did not help accomplish it, and He did not ask for your help. The glory belongs entirely to Him.

Righteousness has never been earned. It has always come through faith. Romans 4 uses the life of Abraham to show that God credited righteousness to him not because of his works, but because he believed. The same is true for every person who places their trust in Jesus today. Pride is one of the greatest barriers to receiving salvation, because it tempts us to contribute something to what only Christ can accomplish. Salvation is not a partnership with Jesus. It is Jesus alone. Whether Jew or Gentile, every person who believes is spiritually connected to Abraham and declared righteous by God through faith.
