The Summer Reading Podcast

One read it with fresh eyes, while the other had the story spoiled by pop culture (thanks, television). Awkward friendships, ghost stories, queer theory, and the Muppets. See what Jack and Marty have to say about The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Jack and Marty discuss human nature, boyhood, British-ness, nudity, and consider whether William Golding needed more hugs. That's right, folks, we're talking Lord of the Flies.

One was required to read this book in school. One picked it up because it was short. Discussions of family, home, identity and what makes a book "YA." See what Jack and Marty have to say about The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.

Jack and Marty discuss The Color Purple by Alice Walker. And you should, too.

Jack and Marty shoot the breeze, have a few drinks, and discuss Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
