It sounds backwards. Humble yourself, and God will lift you up. But that's exactly the promise Simon Peter leaves with these exiles as he closes his letter.

This week we look at what it means to truly humble ourselves, not just before each other, but before Almighty God. We talk honestly about anxiety, weakness, and what it looks like to cast our cares on a God who actually cares for us. We also take a hard look at spiritual warfare and what it means to stay sober-minded and watchful in a battle we cannot see.
Peter ends with a promise worth holding onto. Suffering doesn't last forever. The God of all grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish His people. That's not someday theology. That's for right now.

Humility isn't the low road. It's the way up.

What does real leadership look like in God's family? Peter turns to the elders with a call to shepherd well: lead, feed, care, and protect, not out of compulsion but willingly, not for gain but eagerly, not domineering but leading by example. This isn't just a word for elders. It's for every parent, leader, and disciple-maker among us. True strength isn't found in control. It's found in meekness, power under the Holy Spirit's control, following the pattern Jesus set when He humbled Himself for us. Come hear what it means to lead by going first in humility.

Jesus overcame death. And because He's the ultimate overcomer, we are overcomers in Him. In this message from 1 Peter 4:12-19, we look honestly at suffering, why fiery trials shouldn't surprise us, why they're actually something to rejoice in, and why judgment begins in the household of God before it reaches anyone else. These light and momentary afflictions pale in comparison to the eternal weight of glory that's coming. The question underneath it all: do you trust your Creator enough to entrust your soul to Him while doing good?

As exiles and strangers in this world, how should we live in the space between promise and fulfillment? Solomon had it all and called life without God a waste. Jesus is an example to follow for his audience because He, too, suffered unjustly for our sins. Jesus, being perfectly righteous Himself, laid down His life for the unrighteous. In doing so, He demonstrated the epitome of what it meant to bless those who persecuted Him.

Suffering isn't a sign that something's gone wrong with your faith. It's actually the place where Christ's identity in you gets put on display. In this message, we look at how Peter calls a suffering people to honor Christ as holy, stay ready to give an answer for their hope, and respond to a broken world with gentleness instead of retaliation. When we run to Christ instead of running from pain, our lives start raising questions that only the gospel can answer.

What do you do when someone wrongs you? Your gut says defend yourself, fire back, make them pay. Peter says something completely different: bless.

The big idea: the blessing you've received becomes the blessing you give. You received Jesus freely. Now give him freely, even to people who don't deserve it. Especially them.

This week we trace that story to see why Peter's call to endure unjust suffering isn't an endorsement of oppression. It's the very strategy that's been unraveling Babylon since Jesus bore our wounds and called us to follow in his steps.
