2020 is almost here, so we felt it'd be nice to take some time and reflect on all that God has done in our lives over the past year. We picked a few questions - some light-hearted, some reflective and took turns giving our answers through sniffles, and in-between sips of apple cider vinegar tea, because #coldseason. 

Sunday Afternoons UNCUT. In this week’s episode, we dive into the “hot button” topics of Christianity. Those topics that you avoid bringing up and that somewhat make you cringe.  We stir the pot a little and step on several soapboxes, but hopefully not too many toes, by talking about things that we feel are important to wrestle with. The premise: answer the question, “Should Christians ________?” Five different questions each answered with a “four-ish” minute timer, and our completely biased opinion. By no means are we intending to throw stones or be judgmental - this is not your mother’s Facebook comment section. Our hope is that through our unfiltered, passion you would hear two women who have wrestled with things that we are faced with in society, as we all try to balance what it looks like to be “in the world, but not of the world.”

There is no hidden agenda and our findings are not meant to be taken at face value. Please hear our hearts, we are not trying to make any judgment calls on anyone’s salvation - we’re not that good, promise. Our hope is that if you feel strongly, or feel anything about our answers that you would bring them before The Lord and allow Him to speak into them, and speak His love over you. Once you’ve done that, feel free to come back here for a healthy debate. But please, don’t get us started on Santa. We’ll be here all day.

Worship While You Wait

What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for healing? For God to show up in your family life and turn things around? Are you waiting for someone to recognize your talent and confirm your calling? At some point, if you’re not now, we are all going to go through seasons of waiting. This week, Jillana digs in on how we can wait well and with purpose. 

Why is it so difficult to talk about Jesus in the workplace - or in any place we’re in for that matter? Why do we beat around the bush when it comes to mentioning anything about our faith to our coworkers? Sometimes it can feel like we’re living a double life. Hallelujahs on Sundays and then hiding Mondays through Saturdays. In this solo episode, Jennifer dives into the challenges of witnessing in the workplace and practical ways to overcome our excuses so that we can actually make a positive impact and point our coworkers to Christ.

Holy Spirit You are Welcome Here? 

The Bible has a lot to say about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, but we found that The Holy Spirit is the member of the trinity that seems to invoke the most mystery in the hearts and minds of Christians today. We admit that there have been times where we treated "the gift " that was given to us at salvation more like an unwelcome house guest, just meant to convict and challenge rather than our ever-present help in times of trouble.  What is the significance of The Holy Spirit? Why is it that some Christians have a hard time talking about and acknowledging His role and presence in our lives? In this episode we start a conversation on how we viewed the Holy Spirit growing up, and what we're discovering about Him now. 

As Christians, we are called to live a life walking by The Spirit, and follow Christ. What does following Christ look like in our dating life? In part two of our conversation on "The One" where we take a look at your comments and friends' opinions on whether or not they think "The One" is a thing.

Do you believe in soulmates? How about “true love?” In this two-part episode, we start the conversation on if whether or not there is only one person you could end up with in a marriage relationship, or if you could make any relationship work as long as the other person loves the Lord. Why are we so afraid to face conflict when it’s such a normal part of our lives? How has “confrontation” become a dirty word? In this episode we discuss our own fears with facing conflict, why we feel like it’s so difficult, and how to approach it in a god-honoring, totally not scary way.

Is self-care more than bubble baths and pedicures? In this episode we break down what it looks like to take care of yourself while taking care of others. We realized that the world perpetuates conflicting ideas by telling us to “live your best life” and “do you,” while also telling us to find your #positivevibetribe and to attain the ultimate #squadgoals . Is there something to making sure we are in a healthy state in order to live out the call that Jesus placed on us by telling us to go out and make disciples? Did Jesus practice self-care? As Christians, how do we practice self-care without being selfish?

Sunday Afternoons is BACK! We're so excited to kick off this season by talking about a topic that is relatively new to us - fasting and prayer. In this episode, we discuss what it looks like to fast and pray and why it is still an important spiritual discipline in our time. We share our personal experiences with it, how we've succeeded, and how we're still working it out. Fasting can feel as old-school as gladiator sandals, but is still a very relevant practice as followers of Christ.
