In this episode we break down Chapter 70, the last chapter of Soul of the Fire. We follow Richard, racing back to save Kahlan, only to learn from Du Chaillu that a Sister of the Dark placed a magical trap in Kahlan like a barb on a fishhook, meaning healing magic will kill her and she must recover naturally. We also cover Du Chaillu naming her newborn daughter Cara, Dalt confessing his revenge scheme before returning the Sword of Truth wrapped in a blanket, and Sister Allesandre freeing Prelate Ann right as Fairfield falls to the Imperial Order. After Cara rejoins the group and is welcomed into the family, Richard decides he is completely done with politics and heroing... Also, we review Cooptoberfest by Coopersville Brewing Company because there's a chill in the air after this chapter.

In this episode, we dive into the chaotic and bloody events of chapter 69 of Soul of the Fire, which sets the stage for the next chapter as the final one of the book. We watch as Richard Rahl takes extreme measures to banish the chimes and reclaim his magic, drawing a reverse grace and using black lightning to blast a poisonous lake, sending a toxic waterfall down the valley. Meanwhile, Zedd finally escapes his raven body only to find himself fleeing the oncoming flood with his horse, Spider. The real climax, however, takes place in Anderith, where Dalton Campbell finally snaps after Stein boasts about scalping Franca and sleeping with Dalton's wife, leading to a brutal disembowelment and a carpet-saving defenestration. To wash down all this vengeance and spilled guts, we share our thoughts on Black Rocks Brewery's Razzle Rabbits raspberry cream ale.

In this Chapisode of the Sword of Truth Podcast we dive into Chapter 68 of Soul of Fire to prove that revenge is definitely best served with a side of roasted suckling rabbits. We dissect Dalton Campbell's deeply uncomfortable and manipulative political moves as he returns home to his wife Tess, pretending to be absolutely thrilled about her holy duty with the predatory Sovereign, Bertrand, and even demanding a play-by-play during their intimate encounter. After a quick beer break to review Brewery Vivant's Tropical Blonde ale, we get into Dalton's self-pitying misery, his strategic period of sexual abstinence to achieve a heightened need, and his highly calculated seduction of Bertrand's wife, Hildy. Along the way, we break down the mutually assured destruction pact in Bertrand and Hildy's toxic marriage, and we celebrate the painful, bird-inflicted eye-infection demise of the despicable Serin Rajak.

We are back and diving straight into the emotional wrecking ball that is chapter 67 of Soul of the Fire. In this episode, we watch Richard's entire world shatter as he realizes the unrecognizable, brutally beaten woman he saved the night before is actually his wife, Kahlan, and that they have tragically lost the baby he didn't even know they were expecting. Fueled by raw grief and absolute fury, Richard finally solves the mystery of the Chimes, reveals a hilariously simple earplug hack to bypass the deadly Dirtch bells, and issues a stone-cold decree leaving the ungrateful people of Anderith to burn. Because this chapter gets incredibly heavy, we take a much-needed beer break to review Soft Parade, a delicious fruit-infused beer from Shorts Brewing Company, before we send Richard off on his solitary, anger-fueled quest to save the world.

In this intensely frustrating and action-packed episode, hosts Jade and Nate dive into Chapter 66 of Terry Goodkind’s Soul of the Fire. The drama reaches a boiling point in Anderith as Dalton confronts Tess about her shameless affair with Bertrand, the newly crowned Sovereign, which she mind-bogglingly defends as her "holy duty". Meanwhile, a disguised Kahlan struggles with her pregnancy in Fairfield and makes a fateful decision in a dark wheat field, only to be brutally ambushed and beaten by Rowley and a mob of Nakans wielding altered magic from a Sister of the Dark. In a wild twist of fate, Richard stumbles upon the scene, goes absolutely feral on her attackers, and uses the "breath of life" to save a woman he shockingly fails to recognize as his own wife. Pour yourself a craft brew and join the conversation as the hosts break down the tragic near-misses, terrible camp security, and the emotional fallout of one of the series' most stressful chapters.

In this chapter, we watch Richard's faith in humanity get completely curb stomped. Before things get too dark, we start by debating whether the satin dress worn by Hildemara is white and gold or blue and black, and we take a quick break to enjoy some cheap mass-produced Corona Sun Brew. As we dive into the magical philosophy of Joseph Ander, we compare his rule-breaking style to putting hot sauce on eggs and joke about how his unsolvable magical puzzle feels like the first Harry Potter book on extreme difficulty. Meanwhile, Kahlan tries to seduce Richard with talk of babies, but Richard rejects her because he doesn't understand foreplay and thinks they can't do anything without magic, only to be interrupted by Captain Meiffert seconds after Kahlan insisted no one would bother them. Join us as we unpack all this, laugh about why they should have tied their tent shut, and watch Richard go for a hoof-about to process his devastating political defeat.

We watch the chaos that unfolds when a terrified Fitch swaggers in with the stolen Sword of Truth, followed closely by Cara. The tension spikes to Mortal Kombat fatality level when Beata stubbornly rejects Cara's urgent warnings to flee from three Imperial Order troops, resulting in Corporal Marie Faval being sliced clean in half and Beata’s squad launching into a desperate, chaotic battle. Pour yourself a cold one and join the crew for a hilariously brutal breakdown of the day the world turned truly mad.

Karma catches up with Dalton Campbell in the absolute worst way in Jade and Nate's latest chapter-by-chapter breakdown of Terry Goodkind's Soul of the Fire.

In this episode, the hosts unpack Chapter 62, where Dalton's smug satisfaction over his "medieval Fox News" propaganda machine takes a horrifying, deeply personal turn. The anti-magic mob he unleashed—led by the fanatical Sarin Ray Jack and the sadistic Stein—turns its sights on Dalton’s secret ally, Franka, dragging her to the pyre on false charges of witchcraft. As Dalton helplessly watches his calculations backfire, a giant, eye-stealing raven and a golden chestnut horse execute a mind-blowing rescue that steals the show.

Plus, Jade and Nate discuss Sister Penthia’s lethal upgrade of Dalton’s man, Rowley, the Midlands' catastrophic lack of a governmental chain of command, and review Blue Moon’s Mango Wheat beer.
