The Christmas story did not begin in Bethlehem, but in Eden. It was there that God first promised a Savior to defeat Satan, sin and death. And the fulfillment of that promised salvation is certain.

This chapter introduces two witnesses tasked with prophesying about the things to come with complete and utter resistance from a world in complete rejection of the returning Christ. God empowers them to be untouchable until the completion of their mission. The passage concludes with the assurance that God’s kingdom is secure, a reminder that even in complete anarchy we can rest in the promises of God!

The reality of life is that everything changes and nothing is certain. But God never changes and His plan is certain. God reveals himself and his perfect plan in the Bible, so that we can place our trust in Him.

Satan is evil and powerful but is still under the authority of the Sovereign God. And although God is not the author of evil, He will use evil to judge evil, and thereby turn evil upon itself.

“How long?” is the question that has been ringing through the prayers of God’s people for thousands of years. In the opening of the seventh seal, we see God hallowing His name and judging the world in response to those prayers.

Revelation 7 is a very hopeful chapter as God reminds us that His redemption plan, Jesus, is still in motion; judgement is at hand but so is salvation. We see the 144,000 who receive the seal on their forehead, as well as those clothed in white, and read that “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” God is always able to reach His creation with His saving grace.

Lambs by nature are gentle and harmless. But in Revelation, the lamb that was slain pours out wrath on a sinful world that has defiantly rejected His offers of forgiveness, grace, and salvation.

The world has been plagued by conquest, war, famine and death since the Fall of man. The last century alone was the bloodiest in human history. But the worst is yet to come, when God’s wrath against the sin of mankind is finally unleashed.

Some of the greatest lies from Satan are about heaven. He wants us to believe it will be boring, so that we will grasp onto everything we can in the present, and not live for the glorious eternal future that is promised.
