The Tangent - 118: 30 Second 3-Way

Magikarp Jump is first on the list tonight and Stephen finds that the game doesn't treat you too kindly if you can't get the height you need. Gary thinks Stephen would have been better off playing in French. He may be on to something... Speaking of Gary, he's played Strafe this week, a game Anthony game him a code to. You get one life to make it to the end of the game and it's fast. He's already put about 8 hours into it. Then more Overwatch. He's been reunited with his PC, so he's finally back to playing it, and got a chance to play the new maps and 3v3. He was a fan. Gary had the chance now to play Witcher 3 on the PC, too. He's never seen a game look so good. Rounding out Gary is Injustice 2, which he completed with Justin's help. Moving on to Justin, all he has this week is more Witcher 3, so we move straight on to Brian who played Hue. It's a side-scrolling platforming puzzle game (RIP Justin). He explains it's a lot like Limbo. Black & White, Game and Watch looking game. Artsy Fartsy. More so, Colorblind people beware.

The Tangent - 117: Shyamalaned

Shitty rants aside and a lack of breakfast the Tangent continues this week with a selfish opening pick by Gary... Himself. He's still waiting on his PC, but he finally purchased a desk. Dante's Inferno is a hack n' slash God of War-type game that Gary played for about an hour and a half. Then he talks Injustice. And although he's not a big fighting game guy, he enjoyed the hell out of it. Speaking of Injustice, Brian has just beaten the story mode of Injustice 2. He now has the ability to pick a side. Stampede is a Brian shitter game if I've ever heard one. You play as a wrangler and try to wrangle up some animals. Hey, it's free. it's also the one year anniversary of Overwatch. I hear there are new skins and they're awesome. Next, Justin's got more Witcher III, it's beaten and he's all in on the Gwent card game. I'm thinking he should probably look into Magic: The Gathering. I'm sure he has a friend that can teach him. Lastly, Stephen gives a quick update on Breath of the Wild and losing good weapons. Plus, a new Pokemon game for smartphones, Magikarp: Jump. Gary finds that he prefers the French version. Stephen sticks to the freedom version.

Justin just can't get a rant right. Looks like two wins gone to waste. Then again, everyone loves a good underdog story. This week we've got Games with Gold for June, Mario Rabbits, Pokemon Go bans, Capcom threats, and more!

The Tangent - 116: Maxed Out Meat

Vegas isn't all fun and games. Sometimes it is hard work. However, what is never hard work is playing games.

This week Stephen opens with a quick update to Polytopia, an iPhone game he talked about a few weeks back. He just wanted to make a clarification. He swiftly moves onto Breath of the Wild, and he's beaten the game. Now, he can't wait for the DLC. Then Justin is up. Witcher 3 is still on his plate and he beat the main story. He thinks he got the good ending. He also finds that the DLC is more interesting than the main story. In fact, he skipped zero cut scenes in the DLC. Shocker! Justin also has the iPhone game, Fish and Trip. He describes it as something like Astroids. It's free, so worth a shot. Brian's only game this week is Injustice 2, but boy, is it a game. It is a fighting game made by the Mortal Kombat people. Right off the bat, the facial animations... beautiful. No joke. You should go check them out. Not to spoil it, but Brian gave the game a 'Green Light and a Half'. That's saying something. Last up is Gary, and he's got Prey. 12 - 15 hours into the campaign now. The ammo and weapons are becoming scarce. He's also been playing the game more stealthy. That's a very interesting move for him.

The Drunken News: Game Show Edition this week opens with Justin's rant, and he makes the blatant mistake of retorting. We can't really have that. But he goes off on Destiny again, and this time Destiny 2, so we can forgive him. Maybe. After that, we've got Far Cry 5, Sonic Forces, a Witcher TV series, an ARMS direct, South Park: The Fractured But Whole release date, and more!

The Tangent - 115: Use A Familiar Deck

Anthony's out this week due to scheduling conflicts, but Gary opens this episode with Prey. One thing that can't be beat about the game: load times. They suck. Speaking of beating, Brian managed to beat Little Nightmares in just two nights. Early on the game is very creepy. However, the thing that creeps Brian out the most is the fact that he can't change to inverted controls. Justin's just got more Witcher III and the Gwent card game. Unless, you want to count Breath of the Wild, which we continue to talk more about.

The Tangent - 114: A Nice Purple Grape

Anthony opens up this week, and it's all about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. He's making the attempt to unlock everything. Not a problem for a veteran like himself. Following that is Gary, and he's finally finished Uncharted 2. He feels it's not better than 3. It needs more Sully. He also had a new game called, Little Nightmares. It's a lot like Limbo or Inside. It took him about 4 - 5 hrs to beat, and he actually liked it more than Limbo or Inside. Brian's next and he played Prey this week. Don't worry though, unlike Justin's usual 15 minute play throughs of games, and Anthony's watching of games on Twitch, Gary is an authority on the game having only played though half of the tutorial (which was about 15 minutes). So, pay close attention and listen up to what he has to say. He knows enough about the game to have an opinion. And finally, Zelda. But you should know that by now. It's still amazing.

The Tangent - 113: Picnic In Poundtown

The episode this week is Garyless, but not to worry, the guys do what they can to make it like old times. And but that they mean talking even more.

First up is Stephen. Besides his usual Breath of the Wild talk (which we get to later), he has 3 iPhone/mobile games. Hyoerburner is a on rails Starfox-type game. You move by touching the screen to avoid obstacles. Pretty simple. Skydancer is a Temple Run-like game, but with the challenge of jumping from platform to platform and not falling to your death from the sky. Then, Polytopia. Think of Age of Empires or Civilization, but without the battles and you only have 30 turns to complete tasks and get the highest score possible. It helps that all the games were free. Next up is, Anthony. He played, What Remains of Edith Finch this week, and by the looks of it, got duped into thinking it was a horror game. It is not. What it is is a 2 - 3 hour walking game that costs $20.00. What's actually a horror game is Outlast 2, which Anthony also played this week. Brian and Justin want no part of this game. Especially when Justin remembers it's the game where you walk around with just a camera in the dark. Then speaking of Justin, he talks more about The Witcher III. He's still enjoying the game. He finds the more time he puts in the more he really appreciates it. Can't blame him. Lastly, Brian's turn. He's got Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, a remaster of the 1989 Sega Master System game. The game is difficult. Very difficult. It doesn't tell you anything. However, he loves the fact you can switch between the remake and the retro graphics and music of the original. He wishes more games would do that. Then the all of us talk about our time with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. Keep your eye out for our Let's Play of it on our YouTube channel.

The Drunken News: Game Show Edition keeps the points mostly positive this week. Brian had his 30 seconds to rant and he made sure to take it out on Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. While Gary's game was without a doubt on point.

The Tangent - 112: The Plight Of The Pleb

Anthony starts us off and we open with some Breath of the Wild talk. Everyone is still loving the game (expect maybe, Gary). All of us have put 50-plus hours into the game. We're all just having fun messing around in the game. Justin follows with some MLB updates. He figured out some things in the settings. Made the game better for him, I guess. He also picked up The Witcher 3 Complete Edition. No access to his old save file, however. Probably for the best as he's going to keep it for a back burner game. Brian then lets us know about a new game he played called Flinthook. It's a 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania game. There is a hooking mechanic and a mechanic to slow down time. Very difficult. Brian had actually played it at PAX East. Last up is Gary, and he's still playing Uncharted 2. He's close to the end, so he's now safe to say it's better than the first. We were all shocked. What we weren't shocked about is how much those shotgun guys suck. Gary also wanted to let us know that he repurchased Bullet Storm on the PS4. No regrets. Then again, no ultra settings.

Who knows what was going on in the Drunken News: Game Show Edition this week, but we all found out someone's affinity for GameStop. Points were lost. The Tangent - 111: Everyday Japan Life

New place, same old podcast. We've moved locations once again, and this time it's to Gary's new place. I don't know if you heard, but he bought a house.

Speaking of Gary, he opens up first again this week. Nier: Automata is on his agenda. Played for 30 hours, beat the game, and yet still has no idea what the story was about. It's very Japanese. I imagine that's why. However, Gary gets back to the Uncharted series and plays Uncharted 2. He discovers what we all already knew. Sully has the great one-liners. No doubt about it, kid. Before we move on to Justin, they both played Ghostbusters the 2016 game. It has nothing to do with the movies and it's bad. There isn't anything more to add. Justin picked up MLB: The Show 2016 for a cool $20.00. He's a fan. Anthony and Brian both picked up Yooka-Laylee this week, and let's just say it leaves a lot of be desired. Both agree the cameras and controls suck, but the music and writing are great. And of course, we wrap up the week discussing more The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The Drunken News: Game Show Edition carries on with Brian throwing a little retort with his drunken rant. Things always go a little off the rails. Good topics this week. However, we completely forgot to mention the Nintendo Direct. Oops. Hopefully, next week.

The Tangent - 110: Stephen With A 'V'

The gang is finally all back together. Weeks will be discussed again, if there is one to talk about...

Gary opens up yet again and with what else but Mass Effect: Andromeda. He has beaten the game, but has left a lot on the table. By the end of the game he found himself too overpowered. The writing and animations, however, were not so overpowered. And in a word: silly. He then moves on to Press 'X' To Not Die. It's a beautiful quick time event game. No spoilers here. A masterpiece in a different class. Check out his Let's Play of it. Gary also got the chance to play Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and got to play as Duke Nukem'. All of the classiest of lines remain. Looks fantastic on ultra settings, but then again, why wouldn't it? Oh, and, he snuck in that he bought Witcher 3 for the PC. Ultra settings. It's his mantra at this point. Next up, Brian. Drawn To Death, a hero-based 3rd-person shooter. Takes place in a 13-year-old's notebook (hence the drawn. Get it?). It was free with PS Plus, and feels very unfinished. Justin's got Punch Club this week. A Justin game through and through. It's a arcade-style fighting game that is a mixture of a sports game and The Sims. Lastly, we talk more Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It's still great. For some of us...
