Karen Leong is a multi award winning cake artist and founder of Karen Leong Cake Design.  She bakes fully customized designer cakes and conduct workshops for up and coming professionals, enthusiasts and kids.  Karen started cake decorating as a hobby at eleven.  As the years went by and as she started honing her skills (she has a diploma in cake decorating and French pastry art.) , it quickly turned into her part-time career and then a full time career in January 2017.  When she is not baking she enjoys backpacking on a shoestring budget, writing, reading and simply being in nature.

Karen used to be shy and timid.  She shares how she is able to come out of her shell and work on her internal and external confidence to be the successful woman that she is today.  Check out her episode to listen to her story.

String Nguyen is a video innovator, named Top Voice on Linkedin and world traveller.  For the last three years, String has been pioneering videos on social media. Recently she was recognised as a “Top Voice” on LinkedIn and nominated for 30 under 30 Forbes Asia. She produced the award-winning Snapchat channel “Women In Tech”, and amassed over 350 Facebook Live Interviews with entrepreneurs and startup founders, like Gary Vaynerchuk, Holly Liu (Kabam) and Hugh Forrest (SXSW).

Sambath Meas was born in Pailin, Cambodia at a time of civil war. Having survived the effects of the Vietnam War, the Khmer Civil War, and the Maoist-inspired Khmer Rouge regime, her parents decided not to stick around for another phase of mass killings. Her family, like thousands of other Khmers, fled to the Cambodian-Thai border in 1979. After being displaced in various refugee camps for two years, Chicago became their new home in 1981. Meas graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a B.A. in political science and has taken writing classes at Northwestern University. She works in the legal industry for 20 years now. In her spare time, she helps novice writers to get started with their stories. Her current projects include self-help, science fiction, graphic novel, and young adult fantasy books. She writes fiction, focusing on murder mystery, fantasy, and science fiction; and nonfiction, focusing on memoir, biography, and self-improvement.

Sambath shares her story about her family's experience from the Khmer Rouge era and what her parents went through.  She also shares what she has done to help her father's PTD from the Khmer Rouge, have a better relationship with parents and live a much happier life.

Kanya Sesser is a model, skater and surfer.  Kanya was born in Pak Chong, Thailand without legs. She was abandoned on the front steps of a Buddhist temple when she was only one week old. The monks at the temple took care of her for one year until she was transferred to a Bangkok hospital.  For a few years she lived with an older loving couple that she loved to call her grandparents. It was at the age of 5 that she was finally united with her devoted adoptive parents and destiny brought her to Portland, Oregon.

Pushed by her inexhaustible energy and her invincible attitude not to let anything stop her she started at a very young age with skateboarding, surfing, mono skiing, tennis, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair racing, hiking, swimming, break dancing, quad driving and a lot more. After competing in 100, 200 and 400 meter wheelchair racing events at school and at the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ she has intensified training to qualify for Team USA for the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in mono skiing.  Listen to Kanya’s episode as she shares her story.

Samantha Mariko is a model, blogger and DJ from Orange County, California, currently based in Tokyo, Japan.  After living in California for most of her life, she made the bold decision to move to Tokyo 5 years ago with the intention of starting her modeling career and has been here since.  She is currently a contributor for Cosmopolitan Japan, co-founder of La Fondue Tokyo, and former narrator for NHK World’s Kawaii International. Chantal Umali is a Yoga Teacher and Business woman based in the Philippines. She began her yoga practice in late 2011 as an attempt to alleviate her mounting physical ailments. Little did she know that a simple home yoga practice would unravel into a miraculous journey towards weight loss, recovery from depression and a completely different lifestyle altogether. Chantal is a Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT 200 and has been sharing her passion for yoga by leading Beginner-friendly yoga classes since 2014. She lives in Manila with her daughter.
