We kick off 2016 with a bang as we invite Copilco to the decks for the first Kittencast of the year.

This year the focus is on new artists and with a characteristic style of atmospheric deep techno blended with elements of electronica and IDM, Copilico is the perfect choice to kick off our 2016 series.

We're doing things a little differently this year as we'll be asking the artists to explain their track listing, giving them a chance to share their experiences and stories surrounding each selection and giving you greater insight into their style.

Copilco shares his name with an area of Mexico City, the place in which he was living when he began to produce electronic music. Now based in Germany, Copilco spends his time in the studio and signed his first EP 'Abyss' to Berlin imprint New Port Records in 2015. Copilco's Kittencast delivers one hour of hefty techno cuts, so listen and read on as Copilco gives you the inside scoop on our first Kittencast of the year - More info and detailed tracklisting on the blog.

London based DJ & producer KatrinKa has a talent for producing wonderfully deep & emotive music which has found the support of big name artists such as Nichole Moubader, DJ T, Guy J and B. Traits. She is signed to Chapter 24 Records with previous releases on labels Steyoyoke and Spirit Soul Records and is also a regular on the line up at Chaper 24's London based Gather Round parties (the next of which is 12th September - details here).

Villette (real name Siné Buyuka) is a London based techno and house DJ-producer who has found support for her music from the likes of John Talabot, The XX, Digatilism and Metronomy. She has curated a number of mixes for online blogs and magazines, her most recent of which was for DJ Mag Turkey; in fact it was this mix that introduced us to Villette and led to Kittencast 04.15.

Following on from the success of Aaryon's Kittencast last month we're keeping things deep and melodic and Villette has picked out some superb tracks for this mix - we couldn't wait to stick it on after reading the track listing (below). Aaryon is an artist that we've followed for a few months now. Having launched his producer alias late last year, Aaryon has pushed out a number of impressive releases with a dark, techno sound on the brilliant STEYOYOKE imprint and has also featured recently on a number of Steyoyoke albums. We're big fans of his music and the label, so we're really honoured to receive a mix from him.

Kittencast 03.15 is is laced with deep, dark melodic techno cuts - typical of Aaryon's sound and one that we are certain that you are going to enjoy.

Daniele Di Martino hails from Berlin and is a deep house producer, DJ and remix master extraordinaire; his most popular remix to date, Devendra Banhart's 'Mi Negrita', has had over 380,000 plays on soundcloud. He’s just released his debut EP ‘HI’ on Kallias Music and we’re pretty sure he’ll be flying to the top from here, so we’re thrilled to bring you our July kittencast from Mr Daniele Di Martino!

Gertie is DJs George Stouraitis and Phillip Leonard. Their belter 'Semper' (listen here) was featured on Darius Syrossian's Sankeys radio show for May's unsigned talent and things have been blowing up for the duo ever since. The track has now been signed to Natural Rhythm and will be out at an undisclosed point in the future.

The kittencast the guys have put together for us is 'more of a chin stroker than a face melter'. It's pure class; stylish melodic techno, twists and turns, dark moments, fist-pumping moments and loads of gorgeous sounds. Download and treasure this one as these chaps will be going far.

This month's Kittencast comes from Frankfurt based techno producer and DJ Sven Voss. Sven pulled this together for us before jetting off to the white isle of Ibiza where you can find him playing boat parties and a special after hours party for Space. Sven's sound is minimal, dark and moody - something us Techno Kittens absolutely love. One quick listen to his soundcloud page and we were sold. Kittencast 0514 is an hour long mix of deep dancefloor techno that captures the Sven Voss sound so well. Enjoy.
