J. is catching up and posting all the podcast episodes that we've recorded in the last month over the next few days. We recorded this episode back in July, shortly after Cory Monteith died. That dominates the first part of our discussion, obviously, which we then (awkwardly) segue into talk about Deep Space Nine. We're talking about "Through the Looking Glass," "Improbable Cause" and "The Die Is Cast." Afterwards, we continue our look at Friday Night Lights with a discussion of episode three.

FIGHT! Robby and J. watched some more LOST!, and it gets rough. "The Man From Tallahassee" is the main point of contention, with Robby roaring in rage and J. valiantly fighting back in defense. They mostly agree on "Expose" and "Left Behind," on the other hand -- one is good, one is very bad. And then they gripe about Kate some more.

Then, episode two of Friday Night Lights deals with the fallout of Street's neck injury, and our hosts continue to be impressed by the show's verisimilitude. Also: Coach is awesome.

Next week: shit gets REAL on Deep Space Nine, as we watch "Through the Looking Glass," "Improbable Cause" and "The Die Is Cast." SERIALIZATION FOR THE WIN!

The Writers Guild of America and TV Guide (which still exists?!) got together and named the 101 Best Written Television Shows of All Time. We discuss the ins and outs of the list. Gotta say, ALF was an odd choice for number one.

And then it's Deep Space Nine, where the writers kill off a character who isn't quite working in "Life Support," make Odo and Nog big speeches in "Heart of Stone," and channel Nostradamus in "Destiny." Random note: the actress who plays the Cardassian who squabbles with O'Brien in "Destiny" went to J.'s high school. Go figure.

Next week, we're back to LOST!, as the writers give us our second character of the season who has tons of information and is perfectly willing to give to the characters who are asking for it! Holy crap! We're watching "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead" (Roger Workman!), "Enter 77" (the greatest athlete of all time!), and "Par Avion" (Goth Claire!).

We continue with Deep Space Nine's third year, as a Lwaxana Troi guest appearance coincides with a chance for everyone on board the station to Go Crazy(TM) in "Fascination." Then, "Past Tense, Parts I and II" gives us heavy-handed social commentary, wildly inaccurate predictions of the near future, nonsensical time travel mechanics, and cartoonishly ugly rich people, but it still delivers where it counts.

Next week: we resume sludging through Lost's third season, with "Not in Portland" (Richard Alpert!), "Flashes Before Your Eyes" (Mrs. Hawking!), and "Stranger in a Strange Land" (...ugh).

It's our one-year anniversary! And how better to celebrate it than by recording an episode and having it delayed going up for over a week and a half due to technical issues!

On the show itself, we discuss DS9's "Civil Defense," "Oh Dear God Kill Me Now" "Meridian," and "Defiant." But first, Community tries to tell its origin story, and Elementary remembers to talk about Moriarity again.
