The Televoid Podcast

In honor of LaToya's birthday week, help us keep the party going, forget God, and take a long strange trip to revisit a fan and host-favorite: John Doe. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with returning Doe-enthusiast, @carlylane to discuss, among other things, what the hell was happening on this show and why Oscar Award Winning J.K. Simmons was involved in any of it.

We revisit another cancelled and oft forgotten gem, Opposite Sex, which stars 1999's youths of America such as Milo Ventimiglia, Kyle Howard, and Chris Evans (yes, THAT Chris Evans) as the first few male students admitted to an all girls high school. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with returning guest and Chris Evans specialist, @itslisae to discuss why Lindsey McKeon is once again the best part of everything and how Chris Evans escaped the kind of typecasting that he suffered from pre-Steve Rogers.

Happy Fourth of July! We celebrate with the best way to honor life, liberty, and the American way we know and watched the beach-centric holiday episode of Saved By The Bell. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with guest @thekuhlest to dive deep on many of life mysteries: the low-key Slater/Lisa romance plot in this episode, how close to Sainthood was Kelly Kapowski by the time this show went off the air, and what the Fourth of July means to you (besides 50% off at all department stores).

This week, in honor of Maura's birthday and fathers everywhere, we watched the show that proves young white guys can achieve anything if only they put their minds to it and give .001%. It's time for another USA Network classic: Suits. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with white boy shade specialist @burritoprophet to discuss why everyone on this show is great except Mike Ross and want #justiceforlouislitt.

Hello, angels. We heard you like reboots so we rebooted your favorite reboot before the genre of rebooting reboots even started rebooting. Get your jet ski montages started and prepare to delve into another 2011 pilot season flop: Charlie's Angels. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with @levyontv to discuss the unending plot holes, terrible detective work, and Rachael Taylor quips.

Quoth the raven: never aired. We watched the pilot episode of Poe that was cancelled before it even got on the air. Poe was a crime procedural about Edgar Allen Poe solving crimes starring Christopher Egan, Natalie Dormer, and Leslie Odom Jr. which is somehow even more out of control than it sounds. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with returning guests @carlylane & @ohseafarer to discuss the Muse's place on the soundtrack, the ridiculous chemistry between LOJ & Dormer & everyone else living, and -- wait for it -- why this never got it's shot on ABC's programming schedule.

Time for the intervention episode of Party of Five where everyone's uncomfortable and miserable and that's the point. Remember when Castle implied time travel was a canon reality on a crime procedural and went full tilt camp? We delve deep into one of the most convoluted episodes of their show or ours and try to stop things before the energy wars take hold! Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs with returning guest @elenaisawesome to discuss the dangers of compulsive pop culture referencing with little context that has this show venturing further from the Twelve Monkeys/Terminator homage they were trying for and instead views like a grim two-part episode of The Big Bang Theory.

It’s April Fool’s Day so what better time to take a trip down the Privilege Highway where no one can stay in their goddamn lane. We explore the show – and career – of Romeo! that exists purely through nepotism and venture down the even worse adventure of white people believing that they too can succeed at whatever they put their minds to. Even if that’s braiding black children’s hair against their will. Join your hosts @maurae & @lafergs along with returning guest @quinivasc to discuss the difference between pranks, white nonsense, and jail time.
