Welcome to another episode of the unique, the strange, the bizarre. We were well overdue for one. The first in three unique locations, is....     

The Orange Show in Houston: https://www.orangeshow.org/orange-show-monument 

The Orange Show Monument is a folk-art environment - a monumental work of handmade architecture - located in Houston's East End. It was built single handedly from 1956 until its completion in 1979, by the late Jefferson Davis McKissack, a Houston postal worker.The outdoor 3,000 square foot environment is maze-like in design and includes an oasis, a wishing well, a pond, a stage, a museum, a gift shop, and several upper decks. It is constructed of concrete, brick, steel and found objects including gears, tiles, wagon wheels, mannequins, tractor seats and statuettes. Each piece of the Orange Show Monument was hand-placed and hand-painted by McKissack. The Orange Show is one of the most important folk art environments in the United States.

Founded on 2002. The Munster Mansion is the proud home and hard work of Sandra and Charles McKee. The Munster Mansion is a replica of the house used in "The Munsters" 60's sitcom show. It has been painstakingly recreated room by room, through watching and re-watching footage from the show.

King’s Biergarten was established on April 15th, 2011. Hans Sitter, the founder of King’s, started by renovating an old computer shop into a quaint 45 seat restaurant. The purpose was to get a great bier and a bratwurst while you were getting your car washed on the same property. We started with 8 employees, no air-conditioning, limited seats, and a whole lot of adversity in the beginning, but we always held on to our vision.

While in the port of Galveston, waiting for embarkation day for a 5 day cruise, we decided to do some investigating for you, our friends of the Two Tenderfoot Tourists podcast.

We sampled some local eateries. One of which was on the seawall, facing the beach, a building of 5 different venues, called The Spot.

We then cleansed our palate at a local sweet shop. La Kings Convectionary, founded in 1889, has AMAZING Taffy and Icecream. ALL made in house.

There was a whole lot more to experience than just food! The 1877 Tall Ship Elissa Tour. Pier 22. Pleasure Pier Amusement Park The Tremont House The Strand Architecture History The Galvez! ..and we answer the question, "WHY did Steve get kissed by a 70+ year old Lebanese man?!
