In this continuation, we build on the topic of finding love, holding on to baggage, and what marriage means. Near the end, I give my own thoughts of the inner working of a marriage and how to make this thing call love work.
In this episode, I recall watching children learn to swim at a local park. Watching them struggle to get across the pool is an amazing example of perseverance. Just like we struggle with our own battles, it is easy to forget that we have succeeded in the past and we will succeed again if continue to persevere.
In this episode, I sit with two couples who discuss their new found loves and their stories. Tiera and Nichole have had love and lost love but now they are with “The One”. We discuss finding love organically, dating apps, and overcoming our baggage. This is the first of three episodes with these two wonderful couples.
Thanks for joining me on this installment of The Therapist Wears Sneakers. This was a period I recorded during my intensive outpatient group sessions. One of the clients had a near death experience and I breakdown how her true life story is the Allegory of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
In this episode, I tell the story of a bear attack. I discuss how people don't understand what it took for you to get to where you are now. It is frustrating when people mock what they don't understand. Especially when they don't understand your struggle. Listen in while I lace up my sneaks and break down how to treat the haters.
Although he died penniless, Thomas Payne was a great motivator. In this episode, I veer from the Bible stories and talk about how you can tell you are on the right path even though it seems like the walls are falling down around you. Thomas Payne teaches how to adapt to the times that try our soles.
In this episode, I take a walk with Marcus, a father of two Autistic boys. Instead of being leisurely stroll in my sneaks, we went on a spiritual journey about fatherhood, loss, and being overwhelmed with life. Marcus shares his experience and personal battles that he had to overcome to be the father, Autism advocate, and husband he is today.
In this episode, I break down how we take for granted the good life we had before. Free will isn't free, it comes with a cost.
In this episode, I sit down with a police officer who is also a father. We discuss how to explain to your children about the police, racism, and the images on TV. What happened to officer friendly? What do you do and not do when pulled over? Why would anyone “back the blue?” This isn’t a debate between me and the officer. Or a blaming match. It is a chance to for him to give a unique perspective of being a Black cop and a father. Most of the stuff, I don’t agree with but I feel it is important to HEAR HIM OUT. *****This episode was recorded before D. Chauvin verdict was released*****
This episode put you in the hot seat and examines the effects your use has on those who care about you. This is the "You're the bad guy" episode by breaking down the old Cain and Abel story.
