During this segment, we talk about books we have been reading (or audio-booking) intending to provide an assessment of their overall value to be read by you!

After Books & Business, Thinkling Stearns leads a discussion regarding authorial intent. The goal of interpretation should be to seek the original author’s meaning, and this idea obviously has ramifications for Bible study. Authorial intent also influences our interpretation of every book we read. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but you can judge this podcast episode by its title – “Don’t read into this title.” In this case, our title intends to begin discussing authorial intent and hermeneutics. Let’s dive into the conversation!

Welcome to the first episode of The Thinklings Podcast!

You might be wondering what “Thinklings” actually means! The podcast’s title is a dedication and homage to a few great writers and thinkers of the past (C.S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkien, to name a few). This former group was called “The Inklings” as they dedicated themselves to writing and meeting regularly to discuss their writings. With this same goal in mind, The Thinklings are a group of friends who seek to dedicate themselves to the life and habits of the mind.

The Thinklings – Charlie Carter, Tim Little, and Andy Stearns introduce themselves during this inaugural podcast! They each share a short portion of their personal story of how we all created this podcast. As you will hear often, the heart of the podcast is to read good books and talk about them with your friends (as we do each week). Listen along with us as we dive into many conversations regarding good and bad books, the projects we are working on writing, and as we seek to grow in our Christian lives through dedication to the intellectual life.
