The Flyers dropped another heartbreaker to Boston Friday night, allowing two goals in a span of about 20 minutes in the third that sealed their fate. However, the team responded on Sunday with a 7-4 win over the Washington Capitals - despite a vintage performance by Ovechkin. Sean Couturier played the part of hero in his return and Scotty Laughton added some much needed firepower as the Flyers staved off dropping three in a row. The Flyers were *this* close to coming away with one of their most convincing wins of the season vs the vaunted Boston Bruins. However, they couldn't help but shoot themselves in their own foot and allowed the Bruins to stage an absurd comeback in the waning minutes of the third period. Sure, there were positives, but overall it was a tough loss in a game where 2 points would have gone a long way. Matt, Joe and Mike break it all down.

The Flyers have won four in a row and did the unthinkable, sweeping the New York Islanders in a back-to-back set over the weekend. Sure, it took a couple blown leads and an overtime to get there, but they did it nonetheless. The Flyers went to Boston with visions of righting the ship, and instead found themselves lost at sea. Just 6 games into the 2021 season at 3-2-1 the Flyers already appear to be at a crossroads. Is it the system, the coach, the players? Whatever it is, what we're seeing on the ice simply isn't acceptable. The Flyers gave fans a harsh dose of reality this week, getting absolutely routed by the Buffalo Sabres 6-2. That being said, the team responded the very next night and blanked the Sabres courtesy of a 40-save Brian Elliott shutout. The process wasn't perfect, but it was a step in the right direction. However, injuries keep piling up, and now the team must ship up to Boston without Morgan Frost and Phil Myers. Love some early season adversity.
