Foundations
A smooth skin texture can look us glowy, youthful and healthy and brimming with life.
Use a gentle cleanser that works well for your skin type and doesn't dry out the skin. Use quick upward and outwards circles to get the microcirculation going, bringing healthy colour to the surface. Pat your face dry and then you can then use a toner, that hydrates the skin and helps with better cleansing.
Then, I always recommend a facial oil or a serum that sinks deep in the skin and helps the skin to look plumper and younger, giving a dewy appearance, and then finish with a light moisturiser. Then I recommend using a primer. This smooths the surface of the skin, allowing the foundation to sit better, it also can hydrate or balance the skin and allows the light to bounce off the skin.
I personally then like to use a liquid foundation which is like a treatment serum for redness and extra hydration and then I add a pressed base 4 -in-1 foundation over this. A 4-in-1 pressed foundation saves you time and money as it also gives a bit of concealing, skincare, SPF and you do not need and extra powder over the top. The minerals lie flat on your skin if you use a brush in downwards gentle strokes across the face giving a lovely smooth appearance to the skin.
I have darkness under my eyes and facial folds that are getting deeper so I use a concealer there too. I finish the base with a hydration spray and take the moment to relax, unwind and enjoy the fragrance.
Now to put a bit of colour back in: I use a lip and cheek stain on the apples of my cheeks to add a natural rosiness to the cheeks and some on the lips which gives me a natural colour and a hint of gloss.
If I've got time I use a mid-shade eyeshadow and sweep it in a windscreen wiper movement in my eyelid crease, all over the eyelid and just above the crease as I have hooded eyes.
I have really pale brows so I need to emphasies them with colour as brows frame the face. Tinting the brows is the quickest way and adding a little bit of clear brow gel keeps them in place and adds a bit of gloss. If yours aren't tinted the quickest way to fill in your brows and emphasise them is using a tinted brow gel.
A primer for our lashes helps to hydrate, condition them and enable them to grow longer. It also provides a great slip and glide for your mascara. Then mascara, I only put this on my upper lashes so that my slightly ageing eyes don't look spidery and drooping.
I finish off with another spritz of hydration spray to lock in the minerals to the skin and to give a lovely devy appearance, and last but not least a slip of lip gloss in my favourite colour to make the lips look fresh and youthful.
I hope this is helpful and I look forward to seeing you on the next podcast!
