The one thing I have learned over the years of living abroad is that people often have truly fascinating stories and the story that Maxie shares today is no exception.
In Podcast 54 Wendy Kier talked about moving abroad to create a location
independent lifestyle, and suggested that if this is your plan, to ensure that
you have the business side well established before moving – which does make excellent sense.
However, it is not always possible to have everything lined up especially when the business you are establishing relies on your ability to break into a new market. This was the case for Maxie and her husband, the market was in the UK, and a pretty specialist one at that – but more about that in the podcast.
Maxie and her husband moved to the UK in May 2019 to establish their business.
Everything had to be set up from scratch which was hugely challenging and proved to be a great learning process. Fortunately for us, Maxie shares what she has learned through the process in this podcast. Though related to the UK, much of her advice would be relevant to any move to a new country.
One lesson was that in differentiating your product in a competitive market, a great back story really helps. And their product certainly has that, with links to a rural community, in Lesotho. Listen to find out more.
During our conversation we talk about:
The challenges Maxie and her husband faced as they sought to establish themselves and their business in the UK – and how they overcame those challenges.
Why mindset matters.
The product, why it is so special and what is coming next.
An amazing offer to help anyone embarking on the same journey – moving to the UK and setting up a business.
