Hello, Tie People! We are back for mudball monday and today we are talking about new builds and how we look at how they may age based on only one or two early plays of the golf course. We are in a some sort of a renaissance of new construction of golf courses and it is hard to predict within reason which of these courses may be ones that stand the test of time to become some of the world's best, and which ones will lose their shine quickly.
Today, we hope to make that a bit easier on you based on how we think about judging a new build and the things we look for in a course that will really have long term staying power!
Hope you all enjoy this conversation.
Thanks for the support as always!
Cheers,

The Tie season long awards are back once again with awards that fit the way only we would think about how to decide who had the best year's in golf in different categories. Things like:
- The fast shitting dog award: Who came out hot this year and couldn't sustain?
- The Ron Weasley Award: Who reminded us all he or she "is still here and relevant?"
- The Mr. Clean award: Who can we only expect one or two decent performances from on a yearly basis at this point?
All this and more here on Mudball Monday!

Today we're talking about how we think about reviewing a golf course and the things to look for the first time you play somewhere.
Whether it's how you prep to play somewhere the first time, the things to look for throughout the round, avoidance of getting caught in the moment, or how to think about a course after the fact, it's all here.

We are here for another House Theory Thursday, our segment where we compare golf courses in a match play format. Hole 1 vs Hole 1, Hole vs Hole 2, and so on and so forth.
Our idea of House Theory is to describe each hole based on its merits as the hole it is. Like a great house, every piece of a golf hole needs to match up. The green size, difficulty, length, surroundings, it all needs to fit. So, while it can be hard to compare a par 3 to a par 5, we can do it more successfully deciding which hole works better in and of itself.
Fun matchup today with 2 newer golf courses that both promote topography, firm playing conditions, and creativity.
Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

A fun one today for mudball monday episode 151. We are chatting 30 for 30 documentaries and what they could be repurposed into if they were all golf films. We take existing 30 for 30 names and pivot them into stories about golf centered around things we would want to see or think would be entertaining.
We often talk about our 3 tenets at the tie being culture, competition, and architecture. Well, today taps into the 4th, which is pure BS!
Hope you all enjoy this conversation.
