Dove-Award winning singer/songwriter Rachael Lampa joins the show today. Her debut CD "Live For You," released in 2000, featured four eventual #1 singles including "Blessed" which was named "Inspirational Song of the Year" in 2001. Lampa, who has released multiple albums and worked with many artists including as a backup singer for Jordin Sparks & Hozier, is part of the upcoming Faithful Livestream Event on Saturday May 1 (8pm). Today's show features five contestants on Season 20 of NBC's "The Voice." Emma Caroline (age 25, of Alabama, Team Blake), Zae Romero (age 21, of Texas, Team Nick), Keegan Ferrell (age 21, of Indiana, Team Blake), Gihanna Zoe (age 17, of California, Team Kelly) and Cam Anthony (age 19, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! Team Blake) each shared their experiences thus far, from their backstory to the Blind Audition and Battle Round competition, as well as fun facts and neat insights into their lives.

On a related note, the five guests today also ties a Tim DeMoss Show record for most guests in a single program. The only other time this happened was May 9, 2019, the day after former Phillies president & Chairman Emeritus David Montgomery passed away. That day, five different guests (John Brazer (Director of Fun & Games), The Morning Call's Mandy Housenick, After the Game Ministries' Chip Simmons, Phillies 35-year Receptionist, Executive Offices (aka Front Desk/First Smile Traffic Director Kelly DiGiacomo & 2008 Phillies World Series champion J.C. We kick things off with singer/songwriter Ginny Owens. A three-time Dove Award winner (including New Artist of the Year in 2000) with more than a dozen CDs & EPs to her credit, Owens is slated to participate in the upcoming Faithful livestream event (Saturday May 1 @ 8pm) featuring songs & stories of God's kindness to women throughout history and today. Her book, Singing In The Dark--Finding Hope in the Songs of Scripture, releases that date too. Owens shares the story behind what Faithful is all about and touches on her "How I See It" video series which gives people insight into daily life as a blind person.

Tom Burgoyne ("very good friend" of the Phillie Phanatic) gives good info on a Virtual Painting Night coming up April 23 in conjunction with the Darren Daulton Foundation (which helps those affected by malignant primary brain tumors). Former Eagle Tre Thomas & Daulton teammates Tommy Greene & Mickey Morandini will be on hand too (registration ends Monday April 12 (www.darrendaultonfoundation.org)). We talk life from a mascot's perspective, other Burgoyne endeavors, and Phillies baseball too :).

The one & only Tony Orlando caps off the broadcast. Five #1 Gold singles, three Gold albums, two Platinum albums and hits including his signature song "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree," Orlando has a new CD "Timeless: The Big Hits" featuring re-recordings of his hits plus a bonus track, "America Is My Hometown." Orlando, who also hosts a new radio show, opens with a delightful story about his first-ever single appearing on WFIL and graciously refers to his appreciation for Philadelphia and radio throughout our chat. The first Thursday of each month--except when it's a special day like Maundy Thursday this year, in which case it gets bumped back a week--the guys & gals in the WFIL audience square off in a battle of wits never seen anywhere else...on WFIL...it's called "Trivia Thursday" and the rules are simple:

1) Listeners are invited to call 1 800 560-WFIL (9345) (and sometimes use the text line at 610-500-DOVE (3683) to answer various & sundry trivia questions we toss out. If you call and guess an answer correctly, you score a point for your team. Congratulations! You've helped your team, now have a seat and let someone else shine :) (no "Jeopardy James"-types here).

2) If you call and give an incorrect answer, no worries. You don't cost your team any points, and you're allowed to try again--on a subsequent question.

3) If it's a multiple-answer question (such as taking guesses as to what's on a Top 5 or 10 list), if your first guess is correct, you can take a second guess...and if that one is correct too, you can give a third guess. Maximum points you can score is three, otherwise known as "The Barry Rule."

[On a previous show "Barry from Southwest Philadelphia" called and named a then-legal six answers on a question about Eagles starting quarterbacks since 1980 (this is when Jalen Hurts was named to start in place of Carson Wentz). The next contestant, about to go on the air, heard her guesses being taken and was bummed about it and hung up...so to minimize that happening in the future, we thought adjusting things to a maximum of three might be a good idea :)]

Trivia Thursday--Guys v the Gals (April Edition)

Dr. Sharen Ford, Director for Foster Care & Adoption at Focus On The Family, gives a call in conjunction with April being "National Child Abuse Prevention Month" to give insight into child abuse prevention, foster care, and adoption.

Ford is a nationally-recognized child welfare consultant and the retired Manager for Permanency Services for the Colorado Department of Human Services in the Division of Child Welfare Services. She retired with 30 years of comprehensive work history with the department and oversaw sic programmatic areas including the Foster Care & Adoption Program. Ford leads Focus' "Wait No More" events and is committed to raising awareness regarding the need for every child to have a quality family.
