  • The Foreign Adoption Debate and What the F#ck is an ANTIFA?

Another episode is live! We cover a whole range of topics that hit the news this week - from the actions of Rio Tinto (ugh), energy in the US and Australia’s in a recession? Our conversations get a little heated with a debate over international adoption and a discussion about Antifa - who are they, why does Trump hate them and what do they do? Just a quick note, we had some technical difficulties this week, which is why today's episode is a bit late, but we hope you enjoy regardless! P.S. If you’ve ever wondered what we look like filming, youtube visuals are on their way!

  • We need to talk about white privilege

In this week’s episode we talk about the effects of institutional racism and white privilege in America and Australia. We talk about the murders of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Kumanjayi Walker in Yuendumu. We talk about police brutality, deaths in custody and racism in society today. This is a huge topic and only being a 60 minute episode, there are definitely things we missed out. For this reason, we have collated a list of resources, available via instagram that will help you to continue this discussion.

If you haven’t done any research on this topic yet, let this be your starting point, but don’t stop here.

We are all angry, scared and frustrated, but just feeling these things isn’t enough.

We need to do something about it.

  • West Papua & Australia's Human Rights Record

Another week, another episode! This week we’re back on the good stuff (alcohol) and it shows. We break down the conflict in West Papua- what’s going on, why you probably haven’t heard about it and why you should care. We also pose the question, can Australia be referred to as a leader in human rights despite our less than stellar track record? We recap some headlines you might have missed this week, including Singapore's first sentencing via Zoom, the fast fashion retailers refusing to pay for already made garments and the Federal Court's ruling that casual workers should receive paid leave.

  • The Grass Ceiling & China's Beef with Australia

It’s another episode!! On today’s episode we talk about Breaking the Grass Ceiling - the US women’s soccer team's pay discrimination lawsuit and we chat all about the beef currently going on between Australia and China. What’s happening and should we care?? We also recap some important stories from the week, including an interesting climate litigation case, Germany’s recent decision on gay conversion therapy and the UK’s realisation about coal. Be warned, this episode has a lot of chaotic energy (just like our friendship) but it’s a whole heap of fun and will hopefully spark some debate!

  • Hong Kong & Climate Change vs Corona

Hello and welcome to the first episode of the Tipsy Peacekeepers Podcast! This week we're talking Hong Kong past, present and future- what happened to the protests, how did they start and how will they end? Also, climate change! Should we even be talking about it right now or should COVID take precedence? We recap some of the stories you might have missed this week, including Canada's ban on assault style weapons, Sudan's move to outlaw female genital mutilation and the Queensland Government's decision to ignore scientific advice regarding fracking in the state's Channel Country.
