The Tone Mob Podcast

This is a long overdue episode! I am bringing back one of my favorite people, Bob Keeley himself.

When Rob agreed to come on the podcast way back in 2015, I was not only flabergasted that he agreed to it, but it was one of the best episodes of this show that has been published.

Rob is back and giving us a much needed update on the state of Keeley Electronics, talking about collaborating with Andy Timmons, elaborating on some overlooked aspects of running a manufacturing business in the US, how Boss inspired him, and a whole lot more!

On this glorious episode, Ryan Ratajski from Fuzzrocious Pedals returns to the podcast to nerd out with Blake about Thrice's Alchemy Index, talk about his new collaboration with the band Cave In, and just generally hag out for a fun chat.

Ryan has become a true friend of the show for several years, and this is officially his fourth podcast appearance.

Lots of people have theorized that the video game "Rock Band" may have kick started a whole generation of guitarists. Ayla proves that that might just be true.

We had a great conversation about bringing just what the song needs to the table, technical ability vs songwriting, asking about the death of "genre" saying "YES" to everything and a whole lot more!

Check her out on YouTube & Instagram as well as her website.

You can also get lessons from her and a bunch of other rad folks at Guitareo.

WHAT MAKES THIS SONG STINK? That is the question that launched Pat's YouTube career.

In the depths of lockdown, Pat Finnerty, a lifetime musician from Scranton, PA started making videos critiquing songs. I found him via a video he made where he was literally protesting Train's "Soul Sister".

Normally I kind of detest these types of things, but Pat has such a hilarious yet honest delivery that it just works. His work is absolutely hilarious, yet simultaneously accurate.

I caught Pat on a livestream shortly after finding his gem of a YouTube channel, and we chatted briefly while I was in some sort of zombie state. I invited him on the show, he accepted and now here we are!

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did, and when you are done with it you have to check out his channel HERE.

Ian Martin Allison is a bassist. And not just any bassist, this dude is an absolute MONSTER on the instrument. Ever since he was first "forced" into the roll of commanding the low end, he developed a true passion for the instrument that is nearly impossible to match.

Ian has performed countless times in a wide variety of situations, but as far as The Internet is concerned he is most closely associated with the widely acclaimed channel Scott's Bass Lessons. He has also produced a ton of content on his own, which can mostly be found on his Instagram page. Give him a follow HERE and you will be very glad you did!

If you don't know Scott's Bass Lessons, you really should. Even if you are a guitarist like myself. It's a pretty incredible resource. Scott's website is HERE and the YouTube channel is HERE.
