Competition gives us a unique perspective on the world, gives us a sense of accomplishment, and can be incredibly rewarding. The Torah teaches us that completion is essential and should not be taken lightly. We must strive to improve ourselves to reach our full potential while never using competition as an excuse to bring another person down. The ancient Jewish sages taught that success comes from hard work and dedication rather than taking shortcuts or belittling others. Completing tasks that are meaningful to us will result in growth and development both mentally and spiritually. Achieving something reminds us of our capabilities, opening new possibilities for additional accomplishments. In addition to providing a sense of accomplishment, completing tasks can also create a connection between ourselves and God. By actively striving to achieve our goals, we demonstrate that we believe in the greatness of something greater than ourselves. The Torah says, “You shall serve the Lord your God with all your heart and soul” (Deuteronomy 10:12). This verse emphasizes the importance of hard work and dedication to show reverence for something bigger than us.
