Today, our guest on Morning T™, with Tracy V. Allen, is Esther Charlery-Hiddo. Esther will be speaking to us about overcoming the fear of becoming an entrepreneur, finding your groove as an entrepreneur, marketing yourself effectively, and resources you can take advantage of during difficult times.
Esther “Diva J” Charlery-Hiddo, was born on the beautiful island of St. Croix, U.S.V.I to St. Lucian parents, Antoine Charlery and the late Octavia Charley. Diva J started studying dance at the tender age of 11 with the Caribbean Dance Company of the U.S.V.I. and performed in her first pageant “Miss Black Personality St. Croix.” She won and never looked back participating in numerous pageants where she won them all including Miss West Indies and Miss Virgin Islands.
Diva J also modeled with Jewels of Paradise Modeling Agency where she was the representative for the St. Croix Tourist Board ad campaign. She has had the honor of being the Chairperson for the Carnival Prince and Princess show in St. Croix and the Chairperson for the West Indies Pageant in Hartford, CT.
Diva J is a renowned pageant coach and boasts a perfect record since her trainees have not lost a pageant. Diva J was the youngest awardee to win the “Tomorrow People Award,” which is awarded to people who give back to their community. In collaboration with Catholic Charities, she created a non-profit organization called CAM (Caring about Myself) which is geared towards young ladies teaching them life skills, etiquette, career development training and helping them apply to colleges.
After a successful modeling career Diva J moved into journalism where she joined WJKC Isle 95.5 with her own talk show “Love on the Isle.” She was also the News Anchor for WSVI the ABC affiliatein the USVI. During that time, she was also the Host and Executive Producer of “Graffiti Street,” a teen talk show.
Diva J Is currently the Host of Island Riddims where she has affectionately dawn the name “Diva J.” Island Riddims is a travel and entertainment Talk Show which is seen by over 12 million viewers in 8 countries which include St. Lucia, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Martinique and Guadeloupe, Haiti and the US.
