  • Liz Cashin - PTSD and Forgiveness - This is Me

All too often, undiagnosed PTSD is at the root of many of our unhealthy coping mechanisms as adults. This can present in all sorts of ways, from substance or alcohol abuse, to getting involved in abusive relationships, to how we spend money.

Liz Cashin is an amazing example of someone who has gone on to thrive, after once having the shadow of past trauma over her life. At the age of 13 she accidentally killed a classmate on sports day.

As many of us do, especially as children, Liz internalised this experience. Without knowing, every time she went through the story again, she was re-traumatizing herself. It took her reading one of my favourite books; The Body Keeps the Score, to realise she was still experiencing PTSD.

Liz has since embarked on her own healing journey. As she beautifully puts it “my journey to healing started with self-forgiveness and then it became compassion”.

Liz has since embarked on her own healing journey. As she beautifully puts it “my journey to healing started with self-forgiveness and then it became compassion”.

Liz now helps others unlock their potential and transform their mental wellbeing through speaking, coaching, training & workshops and through her self-help memoir This is Me: One Hell of a Path to Happiness.

In this episode we talk about:

    ·     The power of forgiving yourself

    ·     Liz’s journey from survivor to thriver

    ·     How Liz had her unexpected breakthrough moment and stopped punishing herself

    ·     The importance of self-compassion

  • Kirstie Pearce - How Yoga helped me to heal

There are many ways to heal from trauma. As I always say, it’s a case of different strokes for different folks. We’re all unique, and our healing journeys should reflect that. This week, I’m very pleased to be joined by Kirstie Pearce. Kirstie is an amazing lady, who has recovered from post-natal depression, Ross River virus and chronic fatigue syndrome after the birth of her youngest daughter.

Kirstie aims to help people “reclaim their personal power and voice so that they can live an authentic, passionate and heart-centred life, fully free”.

    In this episode we discuss:

    ·     How yoga helped Kirstie release trauma from her body

    ·     Learning to release after repression
