Christ comes and we run to him knowing that even in our anger that comes through the pain of this life, we know that he is the resurrection and the life.

Martha is a very honest person. She comes to Christ out of anger and yet knows he is different than any other person who has come to her in the midst of tragedy. Her brother is dead. Really dead. What can Jesus do? Well, join us in John 11 to hear of Christ being someone different for us than what we often think or need.

Jesus, speaking of Lazarus and his death, says, I rejoice on account of you, in order that you might believe. 

As Jesus goes to raise Lazarus, he makes known to the disciples his purpose of his work. He speaks to them of falling asleep. He tells them that Lazarus' illness does not exist for the sake of death, but for the sake of the glory of God. As we read this account of this amazing work of Christ, how might we better understand our own outlook on death and mortality? How might illness and our own weakness drive us to God?

Christ comes speaking as the Son of God to us, calling to us as sheep to follow, but we often refuse him because we don't want him.

Join us as we complete our study of John 10. Jesus is making clear who he is to the religious leadership and they don't want him as he is. That doesn't stop Jesus from telling them and begging for faith to come.

The work of the Good Shepherd is an electing work, a calling work, that begins and ends with a laying down and a taking up.

In John 10, Jesus continues his discourse of the blind seeing, and the seeing becoming blind, but he does it in a very weird way. He calls his sheep, they hear his voice and he does it all through this laying down of himself for the sake of taking it up again and gifting himself to us. A Christ who has gone through the deepest darkest portions of death so that he might gather his sheep.
