Will is going to walk me through how to use a dab rig and we’ll also talk about the benefits and some drawbacks of dabbing.
Hey Stoners Welcome to The Johno Show a weedtube channel, I’m your host Jonathan. We are here with my friend Will from QuadDeuceNil.
Will before we begin tell us a little about Quad Duece Nil.
Will as you know I’m a traditionalist whose slowly exploring other methods of taking in Cannabis. For most of my life I didn’t even do bong hits. It was purely pipes and joints.
So I have a couple of questions for you regarding dabbing. Are you ready?
Question 1: What is a dab?
Of course, one can avoid the harmful carcinogens by vaporizing cannabis, and that is the thought process behind “dabbing” as well. Using one of many solvents, concentrate makers are able to separate the essential oils, which contain cannabinoids and terpenes, from cannabis plant matter. A list of commonly used solvents include: ethanol (Everclear), Isopropyl Alcohol, Propane, CO2, and Butane.
A lot of confusion about cannabis extracts stems from the lack of uniform terminology in the cannabis community. For instance, ‘Butane Honey Oil’, or ‘BHO’ as it’s commonly referred to, is a type of concentrate made using butane as the solvent.
Question 2: Is Dabbing Safe?
Question 3: How do you know how much to take?
Question 4: What equipment do I need for dabbing?
Four pieces of equipment are essential for dabbing: a water-pipe, nail, heat source, and a dabber.
A nail is connected to the downpipe of a water pipe, and then heated using the heat source. This is primarily done using a butane torch, although eNails are fast growing in popularity.
Question 5: What temperature am I dabbing at?
Low-temperature dabs, which best preserve the flavor of your concentrates, typically occur at 600 and 710°F.
Dabbing with a lower temperature than that can result in the nail not being hot enough to heat the concentrate, causing it to go to waste by pooling up on the nail, bubbling and dissipating. Dab at a hotter temperature and you risk wasting your concentrate, burning away the terpenes and causing a harshness in the throat and lungs.
We highly recommend using a Carb Cap with dabbing, allowing you to reduce the temperature, enhancing the flavor and get the most out of your concentrates.
