We live now in the third Christian millennium, and in many ways this is a great time to be a Christian: There are more people now than ever before calling on the name of the Lord, and they are living in more places of the world than ever before. But this growth isn't coming in 'the West'.

The church in the West has experienced decades of privilege and blessing and yet in this time, we haven't seen unprecedented levels of growth but rather decline. The church in the West has gone to sleep and is now feeling the effects of that. As years of blessing now appear to be coming to an end, the church is finding itself to be ill-equipped to deal with rising pressure and resultantly, numbers are falling fast.

Meanwhile, the church in Africa, and in areas of Asia is growing fast in spite of opposition from all sides. And yet, it is in these areas where the church is growing fastest that pastors have the least amount of training and churches have the least amount of material resources.

So how do we, the church, respond to this? Do we stop training our pastors and start praying that we would receive violent opposition?

Richard Pratt started Third Millennium Ministries as a response to this problem. Their mission is to provide seminary level Biblical education, for the world, for free. They're seeking to equip the church globally so that Christ's kingdom here on earth might continue to be built up and strengthened.
