This week's podcast, rather than being a discussion of the sermons from Sunday, is a discussion on the booklet 'Gnosticism' by Nick Needham which has been our Big Read as a church this term. The booklet is published by the Christian Institute and can be found in full on their website. Nick helpfully sets out the way in which much of our present culture's thinking on issues of sex and gender has its roots in the ancient heresy of Gnosticism.

In their discussion, Agnes, Phil, and Willie unpack some of these issues further in order to help us as Christians be better equipped to have informed conversations on such sensitive and difficult topics. At a number of points in the discussion they reference Nancy Pearcey's book 'Love Thy Body' which covers the same topic but in greater depth. The book is available to buy here.

This discussion touches on the reassurance we saw in 1 John that we are children of God now and yet we are not yet all that we will be as this will be made more clear and visible in the new creation. They also touch on how we might think through engaging with those who have departed from orthodox faith as taught by the Apostles in a gracious and humble manner. Finally, they reflect on the importance of learning from one another as a church family.
