A great philosophy to follow when creating content for our sport.
Here is a summary of the playbook.
A quick update on why I backed out of GDR last minute, and then we dive into the MASSIVE opportunities in the sport of ultrarunning if you invest in content creation right now.
Every team gets creative, but stands on the shoulders of giants in the process. We are no different.
You won't find the best examples in our sport right now. This episode covers where to look in other sports for guidance.
What will the opportunities look like for sub-elite/professional runners 5 years from now or 10 years from now?
We need to get more elite runners on the same start lines of American races. Here is one way to do that.
This is a rant on a situation unique to ultra running. Why do so many professionals feel compelled to take on work outside of the sport? Why aren't they fully invested in their craft? Why do so many believe it isn't possible? You don't see pros in other sports contemplating this or doing this. I offer my take on the why in this episode.
Why we are going, what we plan to do, and how we are getting ready in the final 2 weeks leading up to race day.
Why? What's it going to take? How can we create entertainment value? How do we get the infrastructure in place here in the US?
This episode starts to answer those questions.
I wrote an essay going deeper on all of it here: https://www.finnmelanson.com/essays/mountain-ultra-trail-running-olympics
