Expectations in life and in marriage exist. As Valentines Day is approaching, its important to make sure you guard yourself from experiencing unmet expectations, frustration, bitterness and offense. You can have an incredible time together, whether planning Valentines Day, date night or even just sex on a sunny or... in our case right now a snowy Sunday afternoon. You just have to talk about the details! Its not enough to say "I want to have sex on Valentines Day," you need to sit and talk about what that means! What are you expecting for the encounter?! And is your spouse on board? What are they desiring from this particular encounter? Or "Lets go Dinner" isnt enough when you are actually expecting or hoping him to plan the babysitter, pick the restaurant and bring you flowers! We missed the boat on this one for many years! We had to learn how to communicate before it came naturally. But one thing is for certain... when we commincate our expectations, offense is much less likely to come knocking or at least you arent as vulnerable to its attack.

Because in most marriages, offense in the bedroom, offense and rejection over sex is a very common issue plaguing marriages. It was in ours and it nearly killed our marriage. But there is good news!
