The Uncensored Catholic

Today we begin a new series. Fr. Spirago wrote the classic Exhaustive Explanation of the Catechism about 150 years ago. It remains a classic that, in my opinion, is more understandable and approachable than the modern Catechism of the Catholic Church. I have found his work to be one of the most enriching books I have ever read. We are just going to take a two pages a t a time and thoroughly discuss each topic. And, of course, several other topics come up. Today, it was archeological evidence for the Bible and the Church and "predestination."

Today we discuss the Lego Church project with John Kraemer. This is a great ministry that John has been doing for nearly 25 years. He uses his art to deepen Catholic faith, inspire and to help people understand how the Church can be more welcoming to people with disabilities. Today we discuss a wonderful article by Kaleb Hammond on Jesus' Parable of the Vineyard. What did this mean for Israel? What does it mean for us? How can we view the ridiculous "Synod on Synodality" and our Church leadership through this lens? Kaleb's article can be read here: https://www.missiodeicatholic.org/p/they-will-reverence-my-son?r=12ue1r&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Today we discuss the wars in Israel and Ukraine and the Book of Revelation. The wars are horrible, tragic and have the potential to become major, world-wide conflicts. The result could even be nuclear war. That, is terrifying. But, it is not the end of the world. Armegedon is not upon us. We are a long way from the end of "End Times" and "those who endure until the end shall be saved." Let's calm down, have faith and pray. The messages of Our Lady at Fatima should give us reassurance. Each of us must be prepared to die at any moment. But, do not be troubled by "wars and rumors of wars." Trust in the Word of God and His Church.

Today we discuss Fr. Spirago's commentary on the Rosay written around 1890 or so. This is a powerful prayer that all Christians can pray for world peace and personal spiritual development.

We discuss the wars in Israel and Ukraine. Christians have a very powerful weapon to combat evil and that is the Holy Rosary. In 1571 the Ottoman Turks were defeated through the Rosary. My friend, Chantal La Fortune wrote an excellent article on this in commemoration of the anniversary of that date, which was this past Saturday, Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary... also the day Israel was attacked. Her article may be read here:
https://www.missiodeicatholic.org/p/a-childlike-love-for-the-rosary The Rosary is not an exclusively Catholic devotion - all Christians may pray the Rosary as its words come directly from Bible. I urge you to Join the Rosary Confraternity https://rosarycenter.org/what-is-the-rosary-confraternity and to pray the Rosary daily.

We discuss the confusing statements about homosexual unions that Pope Francis is reported to have stated. We must remember that the Pope is only infallible on matters of morals and doctrine when issuing official statements in union with the cardinals and bishops and in accord with legitimate Catholic teaching. If the pope states something that is in violation of Catholic doctrine and the Bible, as approval of homosexuality certainly is, we are under no obligation to follow his teaching. In fact, we are obligated to oppose it. The pope has no authority to teach error.

We continue to discuss Saint Irenaeus' explanation of the slavery of Torah Law versus Freedom in Christ. If we are to be honest, none of us like to read or really understand Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Numbers. Saint Irenaeus explains the heart of the Law and why Christians are not bound by it.
