A young man named Saul was given the task to hold the coats of his elders as they put to death one of the early church leaders, Stephen. What an impression on young eyes!It is not a wonder that he grew to become the greatest persecutor of those following Jesus until he would later experience his own conversion to the ways of Christ. The Christian season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, February 17. (Lent is the six weeks leading up to Easter and is traditionally a time of penance and reflection for Christians in anticipation of the celebration of Christs resurrection.) Harvard Avenue Christian Church will have an Ash Wednesday service at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary on February 17 which will include the imposition of ashes.
