Creativity is one of the most unique gifts we have as humans and the world needs our art for a better and more sustainable future. It is through sharing art and creativity that we have seen some of the biggest positive global changes and by harnessing that power we can use it as a force for good! In this episode, I’m joined by Amie McNee, an author, creative coach, speaker and podcaster, who helps thousands of creatives all over the world to move through resistance and chase their callings. I’m excited to share our open and honest conversation with the hope that you’re inspired to tap into your inner artist, because the world needs your art! In this conversation, we spoke all about how to embrace your creativity and overcome comparison and the fear of being seen as an artist. Manifestation, spirituality and wellness have all become buzzwords over the years and their important meaning has often been lost during that journey. Many of these practices have deep cultural connections and can support not only our personal well-being but also how we care for the planet. For this episode, I’m excited to welcome my guest Allira Potter, a proud Yorta Yorta woman, a trained reiki practitioner, intuitive reader, energy healer, writer, model and an empowerment and mindset coach. Allira’s practice is fully immersed around culture, cultural awareness, and education, with a focus on debunking the wellness narrative to ensure diverse representation and decolonisation of the often white-dominated wellness space. In this conversation, we spoke all about manifestation, and how you can incorporate it into your life to build a better future not only for yourself but for the planet. We also began to unpack the implications of the white-washed wellness space and how we can begin decolonising the industry. Indigenous communities have been living in connection with the land for centuries. At a time when our environment is in crisis, uplifting indigenous knowledge and methodology through collaborative partnerships is vital to co-creating a sustainable future.
This episode's guest, Dr Desiree Hernandez Ibinarriaga is an Indigenous Mexican woman, creative practitioner, collaborative and social design maker and lecturer whose purpose is to acknowledge and recognise the relationality between people and place while privileging Indigenous knowledges. Throughout all of her work Desiree’s focus is on building better ways of partnership, collaboration and communication between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people through design.
In this conversation, we spoke in-depth about the importance of and how to begin decolonising yourself, how to respectfully and effectively uplift indigenous knowledge and the connection between people and planet and why strengthening it is vital to tackling climate change. We also spoke about Desiree’s connection to Mexico as an Indigenous woman and she shared some personal stories about her family and heritage.

Innovation and new alternatives are ensuring sustainable changes become the norm as we move forward in a more environmentally conscious world. Industries like leather are having to seek out innovative alternatives to traditional animal leathers or plastic vegan leather to meet customers desires for more sustainable alternatives. This weeks guest, Tessa Carroll has used her entrepreneurial nature to build two sustainable businesses that pride themselves on being ahead of the curve and using innovative materials like plant-based leathers. Her businesses A_C Official and The Common Good Company are working to offer more sustainable options to consumers. In this conversation, we covered a lot, including all things plant-based vegan leathers, how Tessa had to knock down doors to get access to the innovative materials, how plant-based leather is made and the benefits and limitations of these alternatives. We also spoke about the importance of innovation and not settling for what is already out there when searching for sustainable products. Finally, we dived into recycled materials, managing microplastics and the reality of modern manufacturing.

Incorporating nature into fashion is an important part of slowing down the fashion industry and making it more sustainable. This weeks guest Eloise Panetta, not only is inspired by nature in her handcraft pieces, she directly includes it in her designs by using a natural botanical dyeing process. As the founder, heart and hands behind her self-named luxury womenswear label, Eloise founded the collection on the values of quality, craftswomanship, sentimentality and sustainability. In this conversation, we dive into how Eloise is inspired by nature and uses a unique process to directly incorporate nature into her garments, by dyeing them with botanicals. We also discussed how handmade items and slower consumption is important for the future of fashion to be more sustainable. Finally, we covered the challenges of starting a small sustainable business in the sea of fast fashion companies.
