As Christians, it's easy to grow comfortable with where we are. We enjoy what's familiar, and we hesitate to leave it behind. But what if God wants to do more through your life than you ever imagined? What if all He's asking is that you trust Him enough to take the next step? In today’s message, Pastor Ken encourages you to connect with other believers; to be with others who want to grow and find their place in the body of Christ. So today, leave your old ways behind, give your life to Jesus, and join His family.

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s snakes. I can’t stand them. I know there are several that are mostly harmless, but there are a few that can give you a ticket for a nice ride in an ambulance. Some may even make that ticket a one-way trip. In today’s message, Pastor Ken teaches that Satan is like a venomous saw-scaled viper. As one of the most lethal snakes in the world, it’s not something you should go looking for. It strikes quickly and aggressively, meaning if you’re not paying attention, it could be too late. 

There’s only one instance I can think of where someone was safer when they took off their body armor, and it was in First Samuel. If you’re not catching the reference, go digging, and I’m sure you’ll find it. Armor is designed to stay on, so if faith is a shield, then why would we put it down? In today’s message, Pastor Ken teaches that your faith protects you from the attacks of Satan, but only if you hold it close. If you open yourself up, you may block some attacks, but he has easy access to your heart.

As Christians, we face a lot of pressure. The world is looking at us because we claim we have a moral standard based on the words spoken by the One who created the heavens and the earth. That’s a pretty high standard! It will take a lot of wisdom and discernment to pursue. In today’s message, Pastor Ken teaches that if you wish to succeed, you have to ask God for wisdom with unwavering faith that He will pull through and help you out. When you trust in Him, the world can trust in you.

I once took a leadership class, and one of the assignments was to research the leadership traits of Jesus. He had many: He empowered His followers, He served them, He naturally drew the attention of the room, and so much more. In today’s message, Pastor Ken teaches that the most important thing is that He was an example for pastors. He cared for His flock. He didn’t teach one thing and then live completely differently. Jesus was genuine. Jesus was authentic. Jesus loved His disciples, and He loves you.

Within any organization, you’ll find two types of people: those who truly love their job and the vision, and others who really like their salary and benefits. In today’s message, Pastor Ken teaches that this same phenomenon is present in churches all over the world. He warns you to be cautious of the ones that operate more like a business than a church, because the pastors may be more aligned with hired hands than shepherds. They do their job for the benefits, but have no real passion for their congregants.

A couple of years ago, for Valentine's Day, I got my wife flowers and a card, like any good husband would do. It was nice, and she smiled, but that’s not really what she wanted. It didn’t help that I went and grabbed the first thing I saw from the convenience store. The next year, I really thought about it, hand-wrote a card, and picked out flowers she actually preferred. It made all the difference. Today, Pastor Ken teaches that God doesn’t necessarily want your actions, but wants the heart behind them.

A lot of times, you’ll hear of a CEO referred to as “the man for the hour.” That title is earned when they come in and rescue a sinking organization. In today’s message, Pastor Ken teaches that this world is sinking, and God has placed you here for a reason – to be a lighthouse for nonbelievers. It’s a tall task, but He’s not expecting you to do it on your own. It’s a task for the whole Church, and Jesus is here to help along the way. He is a shepherd who will guide you in the way that you should go.

We don’t naturally enjoy discipline. It can be uncomfortable when we’re corrected, challenged, or asked to grow in areas where we still struggle. But God’s discipline isn’t meant to harm us; it’s meant to shape us. It’s part of His loving process of transforming us into the image of Jesus. As Pastor Ken will tell you today, the difficult moments God uses in your life are often the very things that produce spiritual growth. You can embrace His correction, knowing He is always working to make you more like Christ.
