Something a little different coming to you this week - and it may make you ask the question "Does this belong on a true crime podcast?"
On the 8th March 2014 at Kuala Lumpa International Airport a Malaysia Airlines flight was preparing to take off on a regularly scheduled red eye flight to Beijing, China.
The night was calm and clear, the pilot was experienced and there was no indication of anything going wrong on this flight, the pilot remained in contact with ATC until the point it was meant to check in with Vietnam ATC - it never did! Instead, the plane turned south and was uncontactable and untraceable.
But in the background, the plane was sending handshakes and was, for a while, tracked by the military,
But then they lost contact too - everything fell silent, there were no SQUAWKs sent, no distress signals yet somehow, this plane carried on flying for 7 hours.
Why had the planed turned around? Where was it heading?
We'll be covering the theories of what may have happened - and here's where the true crime part comes in! You'll have to listen to find out.
