  • #4: What Olympic gold medal winners can teach us about success

Kevin shares 7 secrets of success he’s learned from Olympic Champions in this episode of The Unstoppable Teen Podcast.

You might love sports, you might loath them… Either way, there’s much we can all learn from athletes who have become the best in the world at what they do.

Success leaves clues. Which means if you know which questions to ask high achievers, and if you listen and observe them carefully, there are lots of performance hacks you can take away and implement to improve your own results.

So what did Michael Phelps, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farrah do to win gold? It’s about much more than just having ‘natural talent’. Kevin reveals all in this episode, so listen now!

“Success doesn’t happen by luck or by chance, it happens by design.”

    You will learn:

    • Secret #1: The first thing you need to do if you want to improve your results. This is exactly what the Fiji rugby sevens team did to win their nation’s first ever gold medal. (2:04)
    • Secret #2: The most important thing you need to do once you’ve set a goal. Michael Phelps did it, so if it worked for him maybe it will work for you! (4:44)
    • Secret #3: Two steps you need to take if you want to accelerate your progress. This is what Team GB’s cycling team did to win more medals than any other country. (6:50)
    • Secret #4: You might not like this one but nobody becomes a champion without doing it. Just ask Mo Farrah and he’ll tell you how this habit enabled him to turn failure into record-breaking success. (11:27)
    • Secret #5: Adam Peaty used this technique to set a new World Record. (13:31)
    • Secret #6: This is what Jessica Ennis-Hill started doing when she was a teenager and continued to do throughout her incredible career. (15:29)
    • Secret #7: Nafissatou Thiam didn’t expect to win gold in the women’s heptathlon, but by applying this principle she beat the odds and became a champion. (18:03)

“Everyone can be brilliant at something. Use these success secrets to make your own dreams come true.”

  • #3: How to start a successful career? Insights form millionaire entrepreneur and best-selling author Daniel Priestley

It’s early days for The Unstoppable Teen Podcast but we’ve got a fantastic guest for you today who normally charges a small fortune for his advice and guidance.

We all know that after we complete school, future jobs await. But how do you decide what you’re going to do? And how to you build a successful career?

These are two of the questions I asked Daniel Priestly because he helps millionaires, billionaires and celebrities take their success to the next level.

I first met Daniel at a conference earlier this year and I was impressed by what he had to say, so I was chuffed he took time out of his busy schedule to join me on a Skype call between business meetings while he was in London.

    What I like about Daniel is that he’s a down-to-Earth normal guy even though he’s a three-time best-selling author and self-made millionaire.

    Some questions I ask:

    • Where were you raised and how did your journey to success get started? (4:30)
    • Are successful people born that way or developed over time? (10:56)
    • What are some of the challenges that are a ‘normal’ part of the journey to success but often discourage teenagers from pursuing their goals? (17:11)
    • What books and resources would you encourage teenagers to read if they want to start their own business one day? (23:11)
    • What advice would you give me if I were a teenager and didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do with my life after I leave school? (28:15)
    • How good are schools are preparing students for future jobs and careers? (32:57)
    • What are some of the things Daniel did to develop himself? (34:22)
    • What can young people do today to become a key person of influence? (39:00)
    • The Top 10 Fast Round of Favourites! (44:31)
    • What does it take to become unstoppable? (50:30)

    You will learn:

    • Where teenagers can find opportunities to become an entrepreneur (5:59)
    • The importance of teamwork and how any teenager can decide who to bring onto your team. (14:27)
    • How to accept yourself and be comfortable in your own skin when you feel different from the crowd. (20:35)
    • How teenagers can prepare for future careers and take advantage of the big changes that are happening in the jobs market. (24:25)
    • What employers look for when they’re recruiting young people, and what mistakes teenagers need to avoid in the interview process if you want a great job (35:46)
    • What parents can do to help elevate their teenagers (41:45)
    • And much more!

“It’s not the job of your school to make you successful. It’s their job to cover the basics so you’re ready for employment. And it’s you’re job as a young person, with all that energy and enthusiasm for your own life, to prepare yourself for the real world. If you want to be successful, that’s your job.”
