WE CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE.  The way we can make sure that the future is positively changed is by pouring into the younger generations in a positive way. We have the ability to change their lives and the lives that they will influence.  In Episode 12 I am excited to have Jake Worrell, the President and Director of 'Iron Impact', a non for profit organization geared towards making a difference in the lives of student athletes.

Everyone has influence.  You don’t have to be the president, CEO, or even manager in your companies or businesses.  No matter what stage or position you hold your actions influence others.  We must realize this and make choices based on that fact.  We must serve those we are around and create positive environments so they can grow.  That is why I am excited to have Dane on the show today for Episode 11, to discuss leadership and influence from his experience and perspective.

DO YOU TRULY LISTEN?  We all would like to think we are very good at listening to others.  Most of the time, myself included, we tend to listen to response instead of just listening.  When we listen to respond we are already thinking about what we will say once the person finishes talking.  This does not allow us to truly listen to what they are saying through their words, tones, and body language. We miss out on a lot of information when we are busy thinking about ourselves and our responses.  This also happens in our own lives when we don't truly listen to what is going on around us.  We need to learn to listen to ourselves just as much as to others.  Once we improve this ability doors will be opened to us to improve our lives and the lives we touch.  In Episode 10 of Pencil Leadership we talk to Daniel Levin who has been a monk, mystic and author who will explain and guide us through truly listening.

100 MILES TO GO.  If you ever hear those words while you're running most of you would be in big trouble, myself included.  When Matt Pedersen hears them he is unaffected except for an excitement that continues to build inside him. This is what he does.  He is an ultramarathon runner. Marathons are 26.2 miles and completing at least one, for most, is a huge life accomplishment. Matt has run multiple races that are over 100 miles long.  It takes a different type of mindset, dedication, and perseverance to accomplish a feat like that even once! However, Matt discusses with me how his mindset and personality helps him be able to finishes these insane races.  In this episode of Pencil Leadership we will dig deeper into the type of perseverance and mental toughness it takes to defeat huge obstacles in life and how knowing yourself puts you at a big advantage. Pencil Leadership Episode 9 will help us learn to use our minds to help strengthen our resolve and undertake what seem like unsurmountable goals.

WE ALL HAVE TO DEAL WITH HARD TIMES. Only few deal with trials like burning buildings, traumatic car wrecks, military service, and natural disasters.  Even fewer have to deal with all those throughout their career! Dakota Duncan has done just that before the age of 28.  Today Dakota will explain how he got through those tough trials.  He will learn how he grew to having emotional control and intelligence and how he learned to lead through those devastating times. You don't have to go through extreme events to take away some great information from Episode 8.
