In the final session of the series, Alasdair MacPherson and Joel Lacey consider the vital role of accountability in a Christian’s pursuit of purity. They explore the truth of the Church as the ‘body’ of Christ and its implications for how believers live together. The session addresses common barriers to accountability and highlights how the deceitfulness of the human heart makes it essential. Practical expressions of accountability are outlined, alongside a challenge to older believers to encourage openness and honest communication among younger Christians.

In this challenging discussion, Alasdair MacPherson and Joel Lacey discuss the importance of repentance in the life of a believer and how it shouldn’t be something to be viewed with dread, but rather it is the way back to fellowship with God. They contrast the difference between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow and how they differ spiritually and practically.

Having established that the heart is the root of the problem, Joel Lacey and Alasdair
MacPherson examine how the word of God can have a cleansing effect on the believer’s heart. The word of God is pure, and sharper than any two-edged sword and is therefore able to minister to need, even at the desire-level, of the heart.

In this second episode, Alasdair MacPherson and Joel Lacey explore how a believer’s
perception of themselves, their sin struggles is important. They discuss the negative impact that living under a principle of law can have, and consider the victory that can be known through a realised appreciation of the gospel.

In the opening episode, Joel Lacey and Alasdair MacPherson discuss the widespread issue of pornography and its grip on today’s society. They identify that sexual desires in the right context are a good thing, as part of God’s creation. However, in the wrong context, they are sinful. They investigate the scriptural perspective of lust and habitual sin, describing impurity as an idolatry issue that needs to be addressed at the heart-level, not merely with external measures; at the heart of the problem is the problem of the heart.
