The party is further wrapped up into the investigation of the murders in town when even more bodies, all missing parts, are discovered in several places. The group, minus Dez and Gabriella, are taken before Mother’s Maiden where in a show of honesty and good faith, they tell the truth of what they know so far. The party clears the rest of the hideout belonging to the Children of Air, find some prisoners that included the missing people from Wildcall, and discovered that the mysterious Kalais may be onto the secret location of the Chained Oblivion. After leaving the hideout and sending the prisoners on their way, the party is met by someone from Aster’s past who brings bad news from Aster’s home. They decide to head south along the coast on the trail of Kalais in hopes of stopping her from retrieving the staff somehow tied to the Divine War.

The party continues their investigation into the murder of Captain Olivia and the mysterious attacks on the party members. Alaric spends time assisting the local guards, sees a strange glow over the bay, and just generally being a grumpy cowboy. The party decides against following Jeanie's footprints beyond the wall and half decide to return to the inn while Athelstan, Sly and Ki'Lai head to the dock to try to find out more information. The night is interrupted by explosions and the guards making a sudden appearance.

The party finds themselves reunited with an old friend who brings a message and a job from van Richten himself. The celebration is shortly lived as they discover that Captain Olivia, recently set to investigating the cause of the mysterious bites the party seems to have picked up, was seemingly thrown from the parapet after being viciously attacked. Needing to know if they brought this with them, the party begins to investigate with the help of the returned Dezoris.
