The Vaktare

Natural 1 Shots presents Hard Knock Life, GM'd by the talented Jeremy. The story follows a party of wayward girls sent away to a school meant to get them back on the straight and narrow, or so they were told. It is soon revealed to not be the case, and the supernatural creeps into their lives.  They find themselves much altered. Given a task by "Uncle Reggie", the girls take off for Milwaukee in the dead of night to carry out his bidding. Will they succeed and gain their freedom, or will they see the sunrise for one last time?

A great one shot written and run by our very own DM Emily from Qorvae Miniatures. Each player made their character based on their favourite fantasy character. This was a play test of her one shot.   The party is already a group of established heroes and they are tasked with investigating the reason the moors near the eastern borders of Mythos are suffering from some sort of blight. Chaos ensues, per usual, and the party must fight custom monsters made by Emily.

The party finally leaves Lady’s Tear and the mysterious Gnome Jillian joins them. They eventually find themselves traveling through the woods and begin to see signs of the witch that calls the woods home as well as signs of the missing dwarf until at last all that is left is the fetishes that the witch uses to mark her territory. The party must make camp for the night in the middle of the woods and with Breeze missing, they must come up with a clever solution to keep everyone out of the elements. Once the party beds down for the night, Athelstan and Ki’Lai have a conversation long in the making. Things are said and Ki’s past is somewhat revealed.

With the town looking like it was abandoned in a hurry, the party searches for clues about the town and the disappearances. Our hilarious one shot under the guidance of DM Lurchagon, AKA Ben, where the party finds themselves in a small town in a swamp called Putrid Pass where, after a night of rabble-rousing and drinking, they wake up cursed. They must find out who did this to them, and a poor guy named Unfortunate Terry. Join us for the insanity, the laughter, and the bad jokes as we go probably just a little too far.   Thank you to everyone who came out to watch and all of our special guests. Great job to DM Ben for his first time DMing on stream, and controlling the absolute chaos we all caused.

The party is finally able to get through the mysteriously barred door and met with Lord Roberto Hill, the owner of the mansion. Alaric discovered the man was covered in dunemancy and the party learned a bit about him and his family. The party showed the Lord the weird doll and Athelstan discovered its true nature, revealing it to be demonic in nature.  With Lord Hills help the party was able to seemingly dispatch the demon in the doll after Alaric dumped holy water on it causing an adverse affect in Ki’Lai, Sly, and Atlas. With the demon gone the party was able to finally leave the mansion and convinced Lord Hill to join them only to discover leaving the mansion was never an option for the Lord. Athelstan spend the night aboard the Succubus and gained some knowledge of the domain the party is currently in. The rest of the group slept in Gibby and Bibbi’s house after finding a familiar gnome inside. The party now must decide how best to get to New Tepest, by land or by the narrow channel leading up to the city.

The party prepares (sort of) for the eclipse by setting up on the roof of the Iron Enclave and borrowing a spy glass from BIP. The eclipse beings and all hell breaks loose. The Divine Gate is shattered and then time seems to freeze. Everyone is affected in one way or another by the magic in the air. The gate seems to reassemble itself at the close of the eclipse and the world goes quiet… for a moment. Sounds of battle are heard throughout the city and the group rushes to help. Creatures from the Abyss have appeared and attack the city and the Five rush to help.

The party finds themselves in the market of the unnamed hamlet under attack by Jorge the Kraken. During combat, Ki’Lai is yeeted like a bath toy into the bay, Alaric doesn’t do stairs, and Atlas becomes Sparkle Pony: Dragon Edition. After realizing the mansion is the key to getting back to their own time, the party makes a run for the front door while Athelstan attempts to find Breeze in the tree line. Athelstan reunites with the party and they flee into the mansion away from Jorge. Ki’Lai did not take some news well. Soon after, they discovered the door upstairs, previously barred by magic, is open.
