You cannot have Southern California Cycling without talking with Michael Marckx.
Former CEO and owner/creator of the widely known BWR, Michael Marckx, is the guest of Episode 10 of the Velo Worthy Podcast. Starting off with just marathons, and making his way to triathlons, Michael was already setting himself up for becoming the huge influence he is now in the cycling and athletic world. While being friend’s with Lance Armstrong, and a drummer in a band, he continued on the athletic path by becoming a runner. After suffering a leg injury, he chose bike riding as a means of recovery, and from there, cycling became more present in his life. When he was hired by Spy, as CEO, he helped to completely turn the company around, creating a better work ethic and environment while helping the company to become better than it ever was before. During this he goes on to create the BWR, what could possibly be the most popular race in The United States. Being inspired by Belgium and France, he took the aspects of romance and challenge to create this race. His also behind the team Monster Media, which is growing to be one of the largest cycling teams in Southern California with Chapters all over the country. He then goes on to talk about his plans for the future, including mentoring college students at CSU about business, and participating in RAW (Race Across the West). If you’ve wanted to learn about Michael Marckx, today is your opportunity.
