  • Episode 30: 'Lord of the Rings' 20th Anniversary - Blindspot + Shazam! Retro Review & More Cowbell

    The Squad! delivers a treat this week with a DOUBLE FEATURE SPECIAL. We erase one third of Bridget’s Lord of the Rings blindspot with a thorough discussion of Fellowship of the Ring. Listen as we traipse through Middle Earth with our LOTR noob dodging ringwraiths, slashing orcs, and getting Sean Astin confused with another Sean.

    Just when you think you can’t have any more fun, we jump into a review of the funnest DC film, Shazam! as we await the sequel, Fury of the Gods, with childlike excitement.

  • Episode 28: 'No Time to Die' REVIEW, Best/Worst Bond Themes - A ‘Bond’ Farewell to our Favorite 007

  • Episode 25: WHY watch "Y: The Last Man?" And "WHAT IF...Killmonger saved Tony Stark?

    This week the squad sets out to answer the most pressing cinematic universe questions of the moment. What is Hulu’s new series, Y: The Last Man, about? And why is everyone sleeping on it?? We make our case for this post-apocalyptic series investigating what would happen if every mammal with a Y chromosome suddenly died...except for one man and his monkey. Next we hop into a time vortex back to 2008 to see what would happen if Black Panther villain Killmonger saved Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie, preventing him from being captured and forced to build the Mark 1.

    It’s also never too early to get into the Halloween spirit. In The ‘Verse! News, we cover Elvira’s upcoming 40th Anniversary, Very Scary, Very Special Special, PLUS the trailer for V/H/S/94, the fourth installment in the cult favorite V/H/S anthology horror series.   • Episode 23: 'Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings' Reviewed and Discussed. (But did we like it?)

    We shift gears this week to review Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, starring Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung. Simu plays Shang-Chi, a trained assassin and martial arts master trying to live his new life away from his father and the terrorist group he founded. But he’s in for the family reunion of a lifetime in an epic story of reluctant heritage, dragons, and darkness. Tune in to hear our poetic summaries of the story, our favorite (and least favorite) moments, and give our final grade so you know if it’s time to break out the popcorn and candy. Spoiler alert: we needed the entire episode to give this film the praise it deserves.
