Dr. Kate Elden, DVM is a veterinary leader and advocate for the evolving future of veterinary medicine. Growing up with a brother with autism, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of a service dog on her family, instilling a lifelong belief in the power of the human-animal bond.
After studying pre-med and riding horses professionally in Spain, she pursued veterinary medicine at UC Davis and began her career in equine practice. A career-altering injury prompted her transition to small animal medicine in San Diego, where she rose from associate to lead veterinarian, helped open a new hospital durning the Covid-19 pandemic, and became deeply involved in telemedicine. She later served as medical director at the hospital she had visited as a child.
Today, Dr. Elden is Chief Medical Officer at Dutch, where her work is driven equally by her love for animals and her commitment to veterinarians - supporting well-being, expanding access to care, and developing the next generation of veterinary leaders.
