  • Episode 09 – Game & Watch Gallery with The Messenger
Alex Messenger returns to The VGMbassy and his pockets are loaded up with portable games! It’s no secret that he holds the Game & Watch Gallery series on the Game Boy and GBA very close to his heart, so Ed was excited to give him the chance to share his passion. Together, they learned about a new game in the series that had a very limited release, shared their favorite games and tracks, and discovered what Mario’s fever dream would probably look like. Get ready for some fantastic music from these underrated gems!
A huge thank you to Indira J (The Misadventures of Buddy and Friend, Sacrimony) for the amazing VGMbassy artwork and design, and to Trevin Hughes (aka chiptune composer Jredd) for the podcast theme song!

  • Episode 07 – The Diad Challenge
It’s a crossover podcast! It’s trivia night! It’s a game show! It’s an encyclopedia! Today’s episode of The VGMbassy is all that and more as Ben, host of “The Diad Presents: A VGM Podcast” joins Ed for a show chock-full of crazy facts. Riffing off of Ben’s own podcast, the hosts challenge each other to research little-known topics vaguely related to each other’s VGM picks. The results are hilarious, informative, and very entertaining. Stay tuned to the end as Ed gets put through the ringer in Ben’s pop-up game show based on VERY obscure trivia!

  • Episode 06 – Dark Sci-Fi with Emily
The rain never stops around here. You slog down the alleyway, neon light reflecting in the shimmering puddles, briefly interrupted by the cars flying overhead. You round the corner, struggle through the smells and sounds of a makeshift marketplace, and look up. There, bathed in warm, glowing light and somehow miraculously untouched by the rain… is The VGMbassy.
Emily is back! After teaching all of us about Ecco the Dolphin on episode 1, today she’s hanging out as Ed discusses one of his passions: Dark and gritty Sci-Fi games. She’s got a few of her own to share, too! Stay tuned to the end of the show where they go on their own sci-fi time jump and reconvene two weeks later to clear up any questions they posed during the initial recording.  Grab a seat on that graffiti-covered hovertrain and strap on those plutonium-powered headphones, there’s a lot of unique and fascinating music on today’s episode!

  • Episode 05 – Black Matrix 00: Blind Listen 1 with Todd
Today, The VGMbassy is proud to present a brand new type of episode format: the Blind Listen. On these shows, Ed and a guest VGMbassador will listen to the soundtrack from a game that they know absolutely nothing about, and try to figure out what kind of game it could be strictly based on what they hear. At the end of the show, all is revealed as Ed pulls back the shroud covering the game’s details! You, as a listener, can participate in three different ways: by playing along with the hosts and making your own theories, OR by becoming a Patreon Patron and submitting soundtracks for Blind Listen shows, OR by becoming a Patreon guest on a Blind Listen show and playing along with Ed on an episode!
Our soundtrack today is from the PS1 game “Black/Matrix 00.” It’s full of unique and amazing music, and keeps Ed and special guest Todd on their toes, guessing at the nature of each track, until the very end of the show. We hope you enjoy guessing along with them!
A huge thank you to Indira J (The Misadventures of Buddy and Friend, Sacrimony) for the amazing VGMbassy artwork and design, and to Trevin Hughes (aka chiptune composer Jredd) for the podcast theme song!
