Living with psoriasis is more than a skin condition. This disease is a daily physical, emotional and psychological battle for one million South Africans living with this chronic disease and it can cause mental stress, anxiety, low self-esteem and depression. People living with psoriasis face the reality of their condition at all times.
Red, scaly patches on the skin, the itch that won’t go away, the stares, invasive questions and comments, and the never-ending physical pain. Psoriasis can present on any part of the body, but it is most common on the knees, elbows, lower back, scalp, legs, face, palms and the soles of the feet.
Although there is no cure for psoriasis, people living with this disease don’t have to suffer. Dermatologists can prescribe treatment options that can reduce or eliminate symptoms, bringing much-needed relief to people living with psoriasis.

“A majority of South Africans agree that racism allegations are an excuse used by politicians to cover up their failures. Everywhere-racism is pushed as a kind of opioid for the masses to dull people from confronting the real problems, but most people have already kicked the habit” this is according to Gabriel Crouse, the Head of Campaigns at the Institute for Race.
The IRR has recently launched the Racism Is Not the Problem initiative and through this initiative, they will be announcing a list of individuals who do more harm than good to race relations through their unsubstantiated insistence that racism is the biggest problem South Africa is facing.

A study titled After School Programmes in South Africa: The Investment Case – was recently released by The Learning Trust (TLT), an education-focused NGO. The report made the case for how NGO after-school programmes (ASPs) are critical in reducing SA’s huge COVID -19 learning backlog and empowering our most vulnerable youth – and explains why more funding and investment is needed in this sector.

According to the report, school closures as a result of the pandemic are going to increase repetition and dropout; and in the poorest schools – known as quintile 1-3 schools – 44% of all students drop out before they reach their matric year.

World Ocean Day is marked on the 8th of June annually. The ocean covers over 70% of the planet. It is our life source, supporting humanity’s sustenance and that of every other organism on earth. Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize joins us on the line now, she is the chairperson of the June and Andrew Mlangeni Foundation, and she is also the Deputy Minister in the
Presidency responsible for Women, Youth and People with Disabilities… She penned an interesting article about integrity and ethics, and how it is more crucial now for all of us to look at our moral campus.

Professor Mkhize believes that the only way we can ever repay the likes of Andrew Mlangeni and Charlotte Maxeke is by retracing our steps to the point at which we strayed. And that once we have done that, we should promise ourselves and people like Ntate Mlangeni to never again forget who they were and what they did for our country by betraying the ideals they fought gallantly for.
